Gitfiddler Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Every Heritage guitar I've played that has P90's sound killer to me. All have had Lollars, so there is an obvious similarity, but man, P90's can sound so different depending on the instrument they are in. From smooth and old school, to clean funk to snarling blues tones, P90's in a Heritage have it going on!
rockabilly69 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I'm also a fan of P90's, and I agree they are great for slide guitar. I've been playing an Historic SG Special with wolfetone 90's through a VOX AC15HW or my Boogie DC2 for the last few gigs of mine, and the SG is kept in open G, it also has .011s on it for a beefy tone. The P90's bark like a junkyard dog. I would highly recommend the wolfetone mean/meaner P90 set in a Heritage H137 for raunchy slide work! And some hollow body P90 love...
Kuz Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 The pots on the Heritage p90s can vary. I changed the pots in my 150 P90 to RS super pots (both volume & tone pots) and now the tone is SO much brighter. Not bad but brighter. I suspect the original pots were 250k. My 535 P90 sounds similar to the original 150 p90 pots, so they may be lower value. But the 535 p90 sound magnificent so I doubt I will update the pots. Then again, the 535 is several years newer than the 150 so it may (probably has) the updated cts pots. I do think that the two Heritages that had Lollar dogears sounded considerably better than the guitar with Lollar soapbar p90s. And the 150 p90 is an incredibly guitar.
schundog Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 H-137 through a 5E3= HEAVEN!! Never has so an ordinary looking guitar contained such tone!!

bobmeyrick Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 meet Vader! Special Order, Trans Blk, Blk bound body/Headstock, Ebony Board, Flamed PG and Truss, Duncans I think I have a close relative... I replaced the Schaller humbuckers with SD Phat Cats. I later replaced the Schaller bridge and tailpiece with a second hand Gibson "Nashville" set. The bridge saddles weren't notched properly, so I replaced them with Graphtechs.
Gitfiddler Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 This 530 was a big hit during a spontaneous jam I had with my brother yesterday. She's light as a feather, but can scream like a pissed off banshee when pushed! Lollar P90's sound so good in her!! Heritage's first production H-530 The inside label is signed by all of the builders. Even came with a cool Certificate from the boys on Parsons Street.
