A newbie to the site has a question on 525s

Hi - Greetings from London, England. Just joined the forum this evening!

That's because I'm about to order my first Heritage guitar, and I wondered if you experienced chaps have any advice for me?

I'm thinking of a 525. I play a 1952 ES-125 live these days, but am fed up with the feedback and the one pickup - but I love the warmth - and the neck. I play Anglicana (think Americana but in England), a little swing and some 50s style R&B. I have a three piece soon to expand to four. I'm a leftie - not that that has any relevance!

Any advice - do's and don'ts when it comes to settling on my spec? I'm thinking of block inlays or trapezoids, ASB, a 50s Gibson neck - and maybe a Bigsby. I play through a Fender Deluxe Reverb II.

Or should I be thinking of a different model?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Laz

I would ask for the inlay logo on the headstock. I wish I had asked on my 535 but I wasn't aware at the time.

Laz~ Welcome to the HOC!

Hopefully you have a local Heritage dealer to work with. If not, Wolfe Guitars in Florida can hook you up with a custom order.

Discuss what options you want and if it gets too far out, the factory will stop you. You said that you are a lefty and want a Bigsby. How about this one?

It may not be your style of music (not mine either!), but it's a cool looking guitar.

Here are photos of a bunch of 525's to give you some ideas:

Thanks! Hadn't seen that clip. There's no distributor / agent in the UK (why? there must be a reason...) and indeed, I am going through Wolfe guitars. Cheers Laz

High End Guitars are the only current UK outlet, but their stock seems to be somewhat stationary.I looked at a lot of their

stock at Birmingham guitar show a couple of years ago. They do have a website, and some of their stock is floated on ebay.

The semi-hollow H-535 (very similar to a Gibson 335) is one of the most popular guitars that Heritage makes.

The 535 has a lot going for it and the due to the mass appeal of this particular model, should you ever decide to buy something more specialized in the future, you'll have no trouble selling a 535.

It's really hard to go wrong with a 535.

Thanks. I am aware of them - but not surprisingly, they don't carry interesting lefty stock! Cheers L

Thanks for the thought. I do own a 335 anyway - and it's the 'something more specialised' I'm after now - to complement my army of specialist lefty acoustics... Thanks L
