Cajun Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I just ended up with a H-170 in trade. I have never owned a 170, but have owned a 140, (2) 150s, a 157, (2) 535s of which I still have one, and a Stat. I prefer the look of single cuts, but my other guitar wasn't moving and when offered thought I would take it and sell/trade it to acquire a dreadnought since I have so many electrics. After 5 minutes of playing it - was blown away and scheming which of the other guitars would go to fund the dreadnought. It is a second year (86) gold top, and the neck is thick, It was just re-fretted and set up perfectly. It oozes vintage mojo and quality. I never cease to be amazed by Heritage quality. Will try to post pix (it crashed on me twice when I added pix). 170s feel great since a little thinner but not too thin bodies. Acoustically sounds great as well which I don't find with all maple topped guitars. Another great Heritage guitar, built during their start up.
Cajun Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Can't seem to load a picture - something wrong with my pc. Sorry - I know we all like pix!
DetroitBlues Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Really? Thick neck you say? Hmmmm Use photobucket and copy the IMG links
Hfan Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Congrats have always been curious about them. Cool having an older guitar with a plek and new frets best of both worlds
RhoadsScholar Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 One of my favorite designs. Uniquely Heritage. Nice score
Gitfiddler Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Dis it? Or this? I believe Jack Baruth owned this black knob beauty at one time. Here's a shot of Ren Wall setting up the first H170 at the factory:
davesultra Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I also owned that one. I put gold top hat knobs and pointers on it. Super chunky neck on that one!
