Frank67 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Dear fellow Heritage enthusiasts, not that I really "needed" that ... but I couldn't pass when I saw this and got it for a good deal. It is a 2015 Heritage Eagle Classic in 'Light Almond Sunburst' (interestingly, the label inside said 'ASB' which means it left the factory as 'Antique sunburst', one of my favorite Heritage finishes) and is equipped with two Duncan Seth Lover pickups. It is a really really pretty guitar and it sounds just like a L5 type guitar should sound. It was plekked by the european dealer and he gave it a very nice setup. It plays wonderfully. It still has a surpsingly full and pleasant acoustic tone despite being a dual humbucker guitar. in fact, it is not much quieter acoustically than my single pub golden eagle I got a few years back. My initial assesment is that amplified they sound pretty similar, but it is hard to tell since I set this one up with flatwounds and the single pub GE with bebop roundwounds. Here are a few pics from my iphone camera. I don't have any of the photo skills 2b or ArchtopHeaven have, but the beauty of the guitar hopefully still comes through (the pictures taken outside probably display the true colour of the guitar a bit better) ... as always, I also tried to make some noises with it. Not that I think that anything I play is worthy of being listend to, but if you can get past my amateurish playing, at least you may get an impression of how nice the guitar sounds :-) Heritage just makes such wonderful guitars! They never fail to amaze me. I now have four of them (a H157 similar to a Les Paul custom like, a H555 similar to a 355, a single inset pub golden eagle and this dual pickup eagle classic). Whenever I pick any of them up the 'yep, that's right' feeling sets right in ... there's a magic in the old Kalamazoo plant :-)
DetroitBlues Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Beautiful! Congrats! Excellent playing by the way!
schundog Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Congratulations! That is gorgeous. Very nice playing, by the way.
JeffB Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 "if you can get past my amateurish playing" Effortlessly rips out elegant lines, scarcely looks at fretboard. Very nice guitar!!! sounds great.
Gitfiddler Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Congratulations on another fine archtop!! Nice playing too!
Frank67 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 "if you can get past my amateurish playing" Effortlessly rips out elegant lines, scarcely looks at fretboard. Very nice guitar!!! sounds great. Thank you for the very kind comment! These are really Wes's lines and I only get them approximately right. If I could come up with that myself I'd be really happy
TalismanRich Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 The guitar looks really sweet. The music coming from it is even sweeter! Excellent playing.
DC Ron Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Beautiful guitar. The Classic may be the most undervalued carved archtop anywhere. Nice find!
Frank67 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Many thanks guys for your wonderfully nice comments! I am super happy with the guitar, how it plays, how it looks, how it sounds. All of my Heritages have been winners from the first moment on.
Steiner Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 She's ALSB all right. Beautiful guitar! There's something about a naked ebony board that screams class to me. Congrats.
RhoadsScholar Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Beautiful guitar, beautiful playing. I have an eagle classic in the same finish. As was stated, one of the best values in an L5 style guitar out there (with a voice all its own). You have a nice collection of Heritage guitars there.
FredZepp Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Great post... we get the story behind the new guitar... lots of nice pics... and a sweet tone sample to complete the package.. Thanks for sharing your new guitar day... nicely done.
ledzef Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Wow great tone, it already sounds like a vintage guitar. That one is a keeper.
Frank67 Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I *love* my Heritage guitars. Each and everyone of them is outstanding in its own right. They all have that wonderful, warm "personality" that I'm totally in love with. Hope to get one or the other more :-)
brez9091 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 A very beautiful guitar, being played with aplomb. Sure beats trying to play with a pear.
