DetroitBlues Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 The old Peavey Wiggly Amp... I've seen them every now and then... I just love the retro/steam punk look to them...
barrymclark Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Probably sounds decent depending on what you are after. This was Dweezil Zappa's amp.
Steiner Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Reminds me of the Soldano designed Speedster amps
DetroitBlues Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 I think the amp head is a good canidiate for a tube amp conversion.. From what I read, its basically a Peavey Bandit 112 Redstripe like what I had.
Gitfiddler Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Those amps sounded great for what they were, especially if the head was connected to a larger speaker cab.
tulk1 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Looks like the dashboard from my old '62 Plymouth Valiant.
Vanschoyck Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Here's the guitar to go with it... Finally a guitar with enough pickups.
DetroitBlues Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Talk about Hot Rodding you guitar! But let's get really crazy!
bobmeyrick Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Talk about Hot Rodding you guitar! But let's get really crazy! Never mind 11, that one goes up to 140!
LK155 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 It'd be interesting to know where that speedometer originated. It reminds me of a 60's VW speedo, in kilometers/hour. Those were VDO instruments as I recall. And the red mark at 50 kph is typically German; my current car has this, and another at 130 (a speed 60's VW's were unlikely to attain unless you had it floored going down a very long hill). And with that carburetor, there's no way that guitar would be neck-heavy. If that's a Solex one-barrel, this is definitely an early VW guitar. The length of the shift lever is about right.

Steering wheel is on the wrong side. We had a 1964 VW on the farm. Speedo was in mph. Went to 90mph I think(the speedo not the car)

JeffB Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 That's the right side in the US. Which is on the left side. Which seems right to me. just seems weird that you would make the passenger drive while the driver just sits there acting like a passenger.
TalismanRich Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 just seems weird that you would make the passenger drive while the driver just sits there acting like a passenger. Somebody had to have the towel to clean off the steamed up windshield in the winter. He was called "the Defroster".
davesultra Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Here's the guitar to go with it... Isn't that Nigel Tufnel's guitar?
bobmeyrick Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Isn't that Nigel Tufnel's guitar? One of them. Here's another, equally tasteful, instrument of his...
mark555 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Finally a guitar with enough pickups. or is it just one big one?
schundog Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Sorry for the hijack, but if you have never heard this classic comedy routine about the early VWs, take the time to listen; It was one of my Dad's favorite routines (we had 2 Bugs and a VW Bus through the years). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0s9144hn5I
DetroitBlues Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 My grandpa's southern ol school humor there...
bsck1 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Somebody had to have the towel to clean off the steamed up windshield in the winter. He was called "the Defroster". Ha! My '69 VW's running boards (heat channels) were so rusted out I didn't dare open the driver's side door for fear of the car collapsing. I entered through the passenger door for three years before bequeathing it to my younger brother. A towel and ice scraper were standard interior equipment. The wiping down the inside of the windshield was the official greeting between VW Bug drivers as we crossed paths on the road.
RJLII Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Thank God Beetles are more refined now. We love ours.
