Shoman Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Just received my first H-535. She's a beauty. Hey everyone. Is there such a thing as an Owners manual for the Heritage 535. I found the Spec on the Heritage site and some pics but no real complete manual. Don't find anything on neck radius, trus wrench size, fret size,, pickup info How the controls work,, mine has the double VIP. Thanks for any info you can provide.
golferwave Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I've only seen catalogs, no owners manual. several of the members here can fill you in on the workings of the VIP, or you can call Ren Wall at the factory for info. Congrats on the new axe! enjoy!!
Shoman Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Hey thanks golferwave, I found instructions on here for the VIP. Weird that they wouldn't have an owners manual. I can certainly measure it but much easier if it's all printed out right there in front of you. I don't have one for my H-150 either. Everything on this one looks to be original so I'm assuming that it's got the HRW pickups. Suppose I can check when I change the strings Not sure how the pickups are normally marked of if they are marked. She's sounding really great. Thanks again.
tulk1 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Are you sure you have an H535? Hard to tell if you're serious since ... There Aren't Any Pictures!
TalismanRich Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The owners manual is very simple: Open case Remove guitar Place fingers on guitar Make music Repeat.. Sorry, I couldn't resist! You can find the control functions here Heritage D-Vip Welcome to the HOC and congrats on the 535. Its one of the most versatile guitars they make.
Shoman Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 haha, I was thinking the same thing. IT's a guitar.....play it. This is a 2010 I believe. IT's in terrific shape. Tooks some super close ups to show how pristine it is. Wish I could play better to do it justice. Sounds....amazamatastic
pegleg32 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 It appears to have a white dot on the black toggle switch so those would be HRW's except I don't recgonize the neck pickup, maybe it was changed out, or just a variation I'm not used to. It appears to have a white strip across the top, or might be a reflection.
Shoman Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Hey pegleg32, no that's just the lighting. It's simple chrome just like the other one. Just the way the light is reflecting that makes it look like that. I see what you mean through. The large toggle does have a white dot on it. What's the general concensious on those pickups. The sound pretty nice to me but you know how first dates are.
Vanschoyck Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 This link is for what appears to be a breakdown of how the D VIP works. Might help you. http://www.heritageguitar.com/dvip.html
Shoman Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Hey Gianluca, yes, this is a great community. What's very cool is that I just found out today that the fellow that I'm taking lessons from also has a 535. Same exact model except a few years older. He's changed his pickups but they started out the same. Had a lesson today and as soon as I told him about mine he brought his out for the rest of the lesson. Very cool.
Blunote Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 They're great pickups. My first electric guitar was Heritage Millennium Ultra with HRWs. When I heard it being played through a Blackface amp at the store, I was hooked and bought the guitar. The pickups can be really smooth and creamy for jazzy chords, or dial the bridge in for a little twang. They're also a bit hotter than many of the PAF style pickups. So if you like lots of distortion it's there for you. Some think they're a little too brash. The thing you'll notice about them (especially the neck) is the clarity you'll get with the tone dialed down. They don't tend to get muddy the way other pickups do. I recently changed the pots out in the Millie to the Musicman brand my luthier really likes and it took some of the edge off the bridge (in a good way)I also have an H-535 with HRWs. It's a bit brighter, or more open sounding than the Millie. Enjoy that H535. It's a great guitar. P.S. -When I changed out the pots I had them wired for splitting the coil but really don't see a much change in tone when switched to single coil mode. Your VIP system allows that. Do you think it makes much difference?
Shoman Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 I haven't had much tie to dial things in yet but I did notice a difference when splitting. Been enjoying the smooth jazz sound. Right now trying to adjust to he different neck radius as compared to my Strat. I'm getting there.
