Mikeinmaryland Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hi there, I'm debating between these two finishes for my new H-535. Both are flamed maple. snap pole: which do you prefer?
Vanschoyck Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I like poles. Old Style Sunburst would be my choice between the two.
DetroitBlues Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I ordered Cherry because it's a traditional ES-335 color...
golferwave Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 That's a tough one. Look over pictures of both finishes and go with your gut instinct.
FredZepp Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I would decide based on how much you want the flame top to be visible. It's harder to photograph and to see the figuring on a trans cherry guitar. But you can get some great looks with that finish. The OSB is a burst finish and tends to attenuate the flamed top...you can ask for more or less dark around the perimeter Here is my trans cherry and my OSB...
bolero Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 on a 535 that is a tough decision... I have owned two cherry 535's, one OSB 535 I still have the cherry 535 I am also an Alvin Lee fan though, so that may factor in I do prefer the way the black flame maple pickguard is defined on the Red, whereas it tends to blend in on the OSB OSB sure looks great with that transition, from black to flame decisions...

Hands down my favorite Heritage guitar out there! That guitar belongs in a space pod that will be sent off to distant galaxy's as a testimony of what the human race is capable of producing.....or at very least a weekend loan to the RnR hall of fame from time to time. Bless your heart FredZepp
tbonesullivan Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 that's a tough choice, but the Old-Style burst is a perfect take on the "darkburst" style finishes. It just looks great. Of course, there are so many good burst colors out there.
Gianluca Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 every time I look at OSB I see a nice guitar finish, no doubts my custom ordered H535 is Almond Sunburst and I'm very happy with it the picture from the website gives a good idea of how nice it is but not as good as seeing and playing it live I'd choose ASB again

Resolution is not that high and the finishes look so much better in person.

Took them 20 yrs to overhaul it the first time. We've still got 15yrs to go for the next overhaul. Be patient, young fella.

jimsoloway Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I consider the Heritage OSB to be by far the best burst finish of any modern builder. This one is mine.

TalismanRich Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 For me, the red semi was always a "gotta have one" guitar. Dee Wells Music where I took lessons some 50 years ago had a red ES335 in the display case. There was no way we could afford it, and at 11 years old, I might as well have been wishing for the moon, but I LUSTED for that guitar! Then there were the days of seeing Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee on album covers and in the magazines. The red semi was iconic for me. Somewhere I still have these two albums: This one filled that young lust and more!
skydog52 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 So many choices. Red trans doesn't always show up well in pics. Good luck!
