Can you understand why?

I removed the pick up from this cherry Golden Eagle.

I'm not crazy about the pick guard shape and I just thought it look so beautiful in its natural state. Can you all understand why I might prefer it this way?

I wondering if you might agree or disagree with this move, after looking at the two photos before and after.

Oh yes! I like it very much sans guard and p'up.

How does she sound acoustically?

And more importantly...How do YOU like her now?

Part of the reason I was comfortable with removing the pick guard and pick up was because of how great she sounded acoustically.

And like a beautiful woman, I found this one didn't need any enhancements at all. If I ever did add a pick guard of my own choosing I think I would choose off-white.

Thank you for your input!

I only see a classic beauty without the pickup and guard. The curves of the scratch guard draw my attention.

You lost the pickup, but if you don't need to amplify, then you made a great choice. Looks awesome either way. What's important is how it looks to you....

looks great either way!!

I used my Eagle like that for a while too, acoustic

got the idea after Curly brought one to the Pilgrimage, it was pretty cool

If you ever consider going 'full acoustic' but WITH another pickguard, here's a shot of Jay Wolfe's amazing "Rhythm Eagle" for reference. It's one of my favorite pickguard styles for Golden Eagles.

Yup, I absolutely get it! That's a beauty of a guitar with or without the pickup/pick guard. I have always loved "F-Hole" guitars and currently own 4 of my own and play they a lot.

The one thing I would ask and then advise is: Do you strum hard? If you do, then I would advise something removable that would protect the finish on the guitar at the down stroke of your strum. They make self sticking clear guards that would protect your finish and not detract from the look you're going for.

Just a thought. If you're a light player of a finger picker, this is a moot point.

Beautiful guitar with or without.

It looks very nice without the pickguard but I wouldn't want to go without the possibility to amplify this guitar. I'm sure it really shines amplified.

That Rhythm Eagle however is out of this world.

You have a beautiful instrument. The older style pick guards have sharper corners and more pronounced shapes. Yours is a great example. The color is super fine.

Here is a photo of a Sweet 16 with a pointy pick guard and an acoustic without. When I am comping 4 to the bar sometimes I miss the pickguard.

Stunning cherry GE. Either way you are happy. I may like the look a little better sans pickguard.

The Rhythm GE is outrageous.
