Beagle216 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 So I got a wild hair up my ass and decided to change over from the bulky looking Bullet Cable solderless DIY kit to the Evidence Audio SIS Monorail solderless plugs. There wasn't a tonal difference, the Bullet Cable was super high quality stuff, but the difference size/weight/appearance was worth the price of admission. I sold my Bullet Cables to a friend for $50, a great deal, and I got the new set for $200 basically from PGS with a new VFE Blues King Pedal. They matched a deal from another Authorized Dealer that basically gave me 25% off my entire Evidence Audio purchase. The Blues King is AWESOME, it is my favorite overdrive I have ever owned! The Gate of Kahn is absolutely amazing. It is completely transparent and doesn't choke the notes too soon. It is perfect for use with my P-90 Jr. as well as my other guitars because of the amount of gain on tap with the Mesa, combined with the terrible noisy power in my basement. I can literally let go of the strings and have no noise. Permanent addition to the board for me. I also was able to sell my old NYC Pedalboard within three hours of listing it for sale and placed an order for the exact same board in Sea Green. I love his boards, they are completely top notch. Mike is the man and he turned this around super quickly. I drop shipped him a leather handle directly from Mesa, so the cover of the board has the same hardware that my amp has. It looks like it was all made together. I am really thrilled with my rig. It is so sweet. GAS officially cured..... for now. =) Good times. See the before and after photos below. P.S. I made a custom riser out of Acacia wood for my Wah Pedal so I didn't have to screw it down into the pedalboard to make it stable. BEFORE: AFTER:
tbonesullivan Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Nice! Did you build that board yourself, or is it from a company like NYC pedalboards? That is a nice setup. I still don't have a guitar pedalboard setup. I really need to put one together.
JeffB Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Looks great. Well done. I had the VFE Blues King for a while, it is what they say it is. I had a binge one night and hit buy now on 3-4 VFE ods. They all were what the blurb on their site said they were. Often with pedals and pedal companies it doesnt work out that way. I shouldve tried there Klon clone as well.
kidsmoke Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Damn Beagle. that's commitment, right there. Enjoy!
DetroitBlues Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 that is awesome! Seafoam green is a great color. Glad you like the Gate of Khan. It even helps with noisy amps too.
smokedtires Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Great looking setup! I love neat and tidy (my OCD) and the new setup looks perfect.
Beagle216 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Thanks everyone! I am really happy with it. Kuz, thanks for re-convincing me on the Seafoam throughout. Happy I went with my initial instincts. Nice! Did you build that board yourself, or is it from a company like NYC pedalboards? That is a nice setup. I still don't have a guitar pedalboard setup. I really need to put one together. It is the Pedalhead from NYC Cases. He is amazing, everything is so high quality.
HANGAR18 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I've got a pedal board with hard shell case and a bunch of effects pedals, none of which have ever been used. I suppose I just bought them in case I ever needed them. I still just enjoy plugging directly into the amp. I've got about as many amps as I do guitars so I guess my amps are actually serving as my real effects pedals.
yoslate Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Great, tight looking rig! All the business, and delicious to look at.
tsp17 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Well done! And thanks for the tip on those Evidence cables. Didn't know about those.
