Line 6 Helix on the way

Due on Jan 18th---the new Helix by line 6. I have not been impressed w/ line 6 in the past, but I only had experience w/ one of their older spider amps. The Helix is supposed to be the rival to the Axe FX but at half the price---Coming from GC so there is a 45 day return window---I love the straight thru a tube sound---but w/ what our group is playing, I need the modeling....

Anybody else tried the helix yet? It's a lot of money to spend---Don't want to waste the cash if a $400 processor will do the job "almost" as well......feedback (ha, ha) is much appreciated!

I'll be interested to hear your impressions. It looks pretty sweet, and as long as it doesn't take too much to get usable/enjoyable tones out of it, it should be a lot of fun.

I hope so---It does look like it has lots of potential---just have to wait and see, I guess!

We shall see really. Fractal and Kemper sort of rule the modeling/sampling roost right now so everything modeler is going to be compared to one of those.

Credit where credit is due, if it weren't for Line6, modeling almost assuredly wouldn't be where it is today. That being said, their Pods have always been capable of much better tone than their amps. I actually once ran one of the Pod Pros into a Marshall power amp and into a 1960 cab. One of the best sounds I ever got from an amp. That frickin pedal board was garbage though. The optic strip needed replacing WAY too often for the expression pedals. I liked the Bass Pods even better. Keep in mind this was well over a decade ago with the floor board. Surely they've fixed that by now.
