je00143 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Vintage Guitar magazine did a story recently on 47 different semi-hollow body guitars. Heritage was not mentioned. I took the liberty of writing the magazine. My letter and their response is below: Hi Gil, Thank you for your note. We sent out more than 150 invitations to participate in the semi-hollow guitar issue including one to Heritage Guitars and they didn’t respond. As far as JP Moats’ passing, again we can’t print what we don’t know about. Maybe a letter to Heritage’s PR person is in order? That is either a big shame, a big oversight, or both. Also, one of the original owners, JP Moats, passed away in September. I never saw any notification of that. Is there a problem with the brand? Or, more specifically, is there a problem with the brand in Bismarck? They have a rich and interesting background, and have been around a lot longer than some of the other brands you featured. As a long-term subscriber and Heritage fan, I feel cheated. One of the best purchases I have made in my life is buying a 575 in 1998.--This mail is sent via contact form on Vintage Guitar® magazine http://www.vintageguitar.com
PunkKitty Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Hopefully, Heritage will get a PR person when the new owners are in charge.
Stringman Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Thanks for writing to Vintage Guitar, because I saw the same thing and had the same reaction. Good On Ya!!! The ironic thing to me was no mention of Heritage anywhere, but in the back of the book where readers send in pics of their guitars sat a man with his new wife and his favorite guitar: a Heritage Double Eagle Guitar. How ironic. Not one mention in the body of the mag, but a pic in the reader section. Thanks for what you did. Stringman
FredZepp Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Interesting. Certainly some missed opportunities for the brand name there. .. This kind of exposure is gold for a manufacturer.
TalismanRich Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 That's interesting that they said they didn't know about JP. I sent an email to the editorial section via the website 2 days after he died. I never got a response from them, and they never published anything. I wonder where it went. I'm not a writer by any stretch, but I wondered last year if it would be worthwhile to have someone do an article about Heritage, centered around PSP. It could have tied in with their anniversary. It could still be done this year, It could include quotes from the owners, and should the sale go through, include the new owners if they so desire. Its early enough that maybe we should approach them about their interest in such an article. They covet everything "vintage" about guitars, what is more vintage than Parsons St?
Stringman Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Correction From My Post Above: The guitar being held in the picture section is a "Sweet 16" not a "Double Eagle".
je00143 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Brent needs to send a photo of his collection.... There may be others, but as far as I know, he has the largest collection, depending on what day it is.......
