MikeChandler Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks everybody! I am pretty sure I will keep the pups, they really sound good. I tried her side by side with a les Paul Traditional of 2008 and the Les Paul was totally anihillated, it sounded like a toy guitar compared to my Heritage. IMHO The Heritage is more on par with the Gibson Historic & Custom Shop models. It's not even fair to put one up against a production shop les paul - The Heritage is a hand made guitar. And unlike Gibson Historic/Custom The Heritage is not pushing richilite fretboards and other shenanigans. And you get an actual Kalamazoo guitar!
Blunote Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 ......And you get an actual Kalamazoo guitar! I like to think of them as 'Vintage built' even though they're not that old. When you think about it, they're built the same way, on the same tooling, by some of the same people that built the revered Les Pauls of the 50s. That's just too cool for some folks to wrap their brain around. So compare the price of a new vintage-built Heritage with 50s built Les Paul. The Heritage is a real bargain.
Mbrown Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 I'm think I will do the 50's wiring on this H 150, as the sound turns too dark when I roll of the volume. It's better to change also the capacitators and pots? The pots must be long or short shaft? For your reference, here's a picture of my wiring:
gpuma Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 for the shaft you can find some info here http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/30500-2007-h-150cm-lightweight-short-shaft-or-long-shaft-pots/
Blunote Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I had the pots changed out on my HRW loaded Millie. The luthier (former Heritage employee) was disappointed to see that Heritage was using cheap 2nd rate components in the control cavity and put some Musicman branded ones in that he liked a lot. It mellowed the tone -especially on the bridge p'up.

I'd imagine switching out the pots made a huge dif in sound/tone/response.
Mbrown Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 I checked together with my luthier and the pots are not CTS, probably some cheap pots. I will order the custom 550k pots from Bare Knuckle together with the Jensend caps, 0,015 for neck (which sounds a little bit too warm, imho) and 0,022 for bridge. Hope they will improve the sound of an already great guitar.

(It is a D_VIP setup so it only has one volume.) A good report just might get me off my duff and get the job done.
Gianluca Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Ciao Mbrown, benvenuto :-) great guitar, enjoy it
shook494 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Great looking 150 with HRW's to boot!! Welcome and congrats
Fernando Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 HRWs alone go for $300 or more. Great bargain! Great guitar!
