You are CORRECT, Sir!

Named after guitarist/endorsee, Dimebag Darrell (RIP).

Wikepedia says..."Seymour Duncan manufactures a signature pickup co-designed by Dime, called the Dimebucker. Dimebag endorsed Seymour Duncan, but continued to use Bill Lawrence pickups in most of his personal guitars..."

OK, since we're on the topic of PRS...I hope ya'll don't mind a little thread-hijacking.

Have any of you tried out this new PRS Standard Mahogany w/Duncan Soapbars model?

It looks VERY tempting...and I'm not a PRS guy!!

You have quite an eye!  Never really thought about PRS much, but zounds, that is a stunning piece!  Quite a testimony to the notion that less is more.  Thanks for posting the link.

I wish you wouldn't have posted that link. I thought my guitar-buying days were done! Now this...

Dave's fav guitar is a Trini Lopez Gibson. You can't accomplish with gear what talent and practice gets ya'. Believe me I know, I've tried. The Heritage is guitar enough. The rest is technique.

:) Sorry for the diversion...er, um, temptation.  But that mahogany beautiy grabbed me by the horns and gave me a serious case of GAS.  I even did some local price-checking on it...and Christmas IS on the way.

Hey, maybe that's the type of guitar Heritage should consider making!! ;)

I have done some research on the Bill Lawrence pickups and they sound extremely interesting. You first have to realize, as I discovered in my research, there are two guys, neither named Bill Lawrence that sell Bill Lawrence pickups. You can visit two different websites, billlawrence.com and billlawrenceusa.com. Appears these guys had a falling out over 20 years ago and decided to add fuel (and much confusion) to their feud by both using the same name.

If I am not mistaken, Billlawrence.com's (he is a German immigrant and his real name escapes me) pickups can only be ordered on his site, and it is his that Dimebag Darrel used. The BilllarenceUSA.com guy sells his to retailers and I believe Stewartmac.com also sold his brand.

It also appears if you go to Harmony-Central.com to read reviews about either, there is no distinction in the categories,-all models from each manufacturer (or most anyway) are categorized under "Bill Lawrence". From what I can tell, the models listed that can be found on billlawrence.com got some excellent reviews. And again, these are the pickups that Dimebag used, (sorry for the suggestion about the Duncan version, evidently, they are not exactly "real deal") and evidently are high output screamin pickups that can be rolled back tp get a more traditional sound. They used a bar acreoss the front of the pickup about the length and width of a fretwire instead of screws which supposed to really help out the tone when bending. He has several humbucker types to choose from and they sell for between 50 and 75 bucks!!!

Not sure about billlawrenceusa as far as prices-didn't really check as I am very sold on picking up a set from billlawrence.com to put in one of my other guitars.

I also read reviews on Harmony Central.  It seems the reviewers go to great lengths to say which Bill Lawrence they are using, and the other is a fake, etc.

One of the companies called Bill Lawrence, the billlawrence.com company, is owned by Willi Stich, who had changed his name legally to Bill Lawrence. He was the designer and developer that worked with Gibson in the 70's, and currently works with Fender on their noiseless line -- IMO the Fender line is not as authentic sounding as his own products, but they are, nonetheless, pretty good. The other, Bill Lawrence USA, is owned by the business manager, who does not design pickups. I can tell you that the German guy, from billlawrence.com, is the guy who designed the L-90's for Aerosmith, BOC, and the rest back in the day (remember Live! Bootleg, Some Enchanted Evening, and other great gems from those bands?) and has continued developing and refining his designs to this day. The other company is recycling cheaper versions of his old pickups.

His stuff is top of the line, and his wife is very easy to deal with on the phone. I've spoken to them extensively about pickup design, and which ones were the ones for me, and there is no BS. They know their stuff and back it up.

Interesting article about a not very well publicized pickup that Seymour Duncan makes. If your looking for a hard rockin pu-this MAY be the one.

Thanks Kazwell-that's a great site.  I have regressed a little.  I'm taking my Heritage to GC on Friday to try out a Marshall JVM410.  If I trade in my TSL100, I might still have money for another guitar.  That's awhole new story-Heritage150 with Custom Custom Pu's or PRS-the saga continues!

If the "Custom Custom" reference pretained to you heeding some descision inspiration from that article, let me clarify. The SD rep initially suggested this PU as one they usually guide folks to who are seeking the famous EVH "Brown Sound". However after the author noted the resistance of the Custom Custom was a whopping 14K-, the rep led him todards the SD Custom Shop that Seymour himself actually developed with EVH.

Here's another great page on that site they may be of special interest to you since you are in the market for a new amp.

This is a page on the site listing some artists that use it. It is a virtual who's who of some very high profile guitar slingers.

I have a relatively new Custom Custom (it has the big honking logo printed on the bobbin) in the bridge position of my 137D.  It's bright, articulate and, um, strong.  I actually rather like it because it balances out the warm, full stock Schaller neck pup.  When I get around to dropping the HRWs in there, I'd be willing to "pay-it-forward" to anyone here who might be interested.

Thanks for all the info guys!  I have to say this is the best forum I belong to.  There is no attitude, ego, etc.  Some of those forums you feel like you have to do research before you ask a question, so as to not waste people's time.  Thanks again!
