MikeChandler Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 It's here and in my hands... it looks ridiculously good, much better than that photo. Looking at the photo I was concerned over the edges... but wow, they really do look slick and polished, it looks totally factory, other than the vintage gold top color. OH MY! I am putting it back together... assembled photos will follow!
tbonesullivan Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I will have to admit that i really don't like the "black and tan" finishes. I'd rather have it all black, or something not black on the top. Just having the top black is like having on just the top half of your tuxedo. Like this, it now looks really awesome.
MikeChandler Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 I am calling it a night. Still working on the wiring... put in some jimmy page whole lotta humbuckers with the push pull pots.. I'll get better pics in the daylight... but I have to say I am blown away by how good it looks!

pressure Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I have never seen the mood of a guitar change so dramatically with just a finish change. Loving the gold.
TalismanRich Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 He did a really nice job on it. Is the new finish done in nitrocel lacquer? How does the gold change when you get pure sunlight. Gold finishes can really change character depending on the light source.

He got it as close as he could to vintage without the bronze powder, which he said is no longer available. I showed in the pics, it goes from a gold, to brownish, to greenish, to full brilliant shining gold. Pretty amazing! Unfortunately hard to capture the real look in pictures.they just don't do it justice. Marty Bell exceeded my expectations... this finish does this guitar justice. I'm pretty happy!
Blunote Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Kind of like getting a brand new guitar for just a little bit more. It really came out nice.
