jimsoloway Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 There's a mahogany Eagle available at what appears to be a very attractive price (at least in part because of the collapse of the Canadian dollar). I know it's a much bigger guitar than I like, but I've thought for a while that the mahogany body might be a good fit for me tonally. Can anyone give me a quick course on the pluses and minuses of this model? Thanks in advance.
pegleg32 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Jim, I have nothing for you, but thought I would give you a bump.
Vanschoyck Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I'm willing, as always, to debate in a vacuum since I've never owned one. But I know several things about you: You like the mahogany body on your long scale 575 and the Eagle has the long scale length you like (I think). But you've said you don't like the larger body guitars, so that would be a minus for you. On the other hand if you found a way to get along with the body size you'd probably get on with it quite well. How do you feel about floating pickups? Seems like someone around here owns one of these.
schundog Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 PM Genericmusic (Tim). He owns one, and loves it. I'm sure he could give you some guidance. Good luck! That IS a very good deal on that one.
jimsoloway Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 The decision got made for me. Someone else bought it. I believe it went for $1650 CDN which at today's rate is is $1186 US
