PunkKitty Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I have an opportunity to pick up one of these at a very good price. Does anyone have any thoughts on them? I really don't need it. But a 60 watt Fender twin amp may be too good to pass up. This isn't the exact amp. But it looks like this one with a bit more wear.
tulk1 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Red Knob Fenders don't have the best reputation. But that is quite possibly just Tube Snobbery. Wonder what circuit that actually is? It it was a Tweed Super 210, I'd say jump. Just not sure on these ... circa 1980's??
davesultra Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Those were amongst the first FMIC PCB based amps. Many people confuse these with Rivera-era Fenders, but they're not (no the red knob snakeskin covered Champ 12 is not a Rivera design either). IIRC, these were voiced with more of a modern (hot) preamp, definitely not the usual Fender cleans. As far as reliability, I can't comment.
