mad dog Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Thanks to MDS, I'll finally get to spend time with an H525. That's the one I've been most curious about, for a long time. Being so enamored of P-90s. Now I'm hoping lightning hits twice. Cause my first Heritage - a blueburst H575 custom - has so impressed me. It's one of those guitars I pick up and have real trouble putting down. Sure hope the H535 hits me the same way!! MD
mad dog Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 An H525 update: The guitar landed safely, thank you so much MDS for a thorough, excellent packing job! I've been chasing this model for years, never actually saw one. So it's a real treat to finally get a 525 in my hands. But for a scratch on the back, pick scratches on the guard, it looks new. I was a bit surprised at how deepset the neck p/u is (with the higher riser), never having seen one in person much less side view. But it's clearly by design. A most interesting guitar. It plays and feels better than every other similar guitar I've tried - vintage ES-330s, RI ES-330s, also vintage ES-225s and a newer, P-90 ES-175 - excepting one beat up '62 ES-330 I could not afford. Way better, in fact. And that sound is there! Studying jazz now, so the neck only spot is where it'll be most of the time. I'm also thrilled by the twang and cut of the middle position. Beautiful! It's just like my first heritage, a blueburst H575 Custom. In that I pick it up, and find it hard to put back down. I think I have been very lucky with both guitars. They both have it, whatever "it" is. Very happy to have such fine instruments! MD
mad dog Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 I don't see any pictures. Just sayin' I hear you. Haven't taken my own yet. These are from a previous owner: MD
Gitfiddler Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Congratulations on your latest Heritage!! 525's are unique gits. With roundwounds they are rock, RnB, pop worthy. But put on a set of flatwounds and the character changes dramatically. Even with its laminate top/back and relatively small body size, 525's get a very thick jazz tone that is second only to more expensive archtops. Wonderful instrument. Play it in good health.
jaywolfe Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Gorgeous. Congratulations. The Pickguard looks familiar. Jay Wolfe
