Polo Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 **not affiliated** In celebration of our 100th birthday, Heritage Guitar Inc. of Kalamazoo is making us a custom guitar with a mother of pearl Pretty Lake inlay. And you can win it!This one-of-a-kind guitar is cut from a maple tree on our property and is being handmade right in the Parsons St. factory in Kalamazoo (where guitars have been made for almost as long as we’ve provided free summer camp for area kids).Raffle tickets are $10, and they’ll be available for purchase starting Saturday, March 5 at the Kalamazoo Fretboard Festival. Stop by our table between noon and 6:00pm (we're in the Anna Whitten Hall)! tulk1 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Just to be clear ... that IS NOT the guitar being raffled. That pic is of an H157 I sold to Cosmikdebris. He gave his permission to use a pic of his guitar. I gave permission to use that pic as a representation of Heritages work. Fyi, the headstock inlay has been Photoshoped. I think it's pretty sweet. The raffle is legit. Its just not for the guitar pictured. Thought that worth mentioning.
Rod Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I looked at the website and didn't see a way to buy raffle tickets online. Did I miss something? If there's a way to do that online I'll buy a few. Since it isn't already built, if they'd do a custom to some extent (at least the finish) I'm good for a few more.
PunkKitty Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Will tickets be sold online? I'd like to get a couple.
Conneazoo Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I went to that camp a few summers when I was a kid. A looooooong time ago........ I would probably need to purchase online as well.
StephenK Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I bought one today at the Fretboard Festival in Kzoo. On a side note, Arnie created a new guitar for himself. It is a h110 Millenium, reverse routed interior with a baffle system, Vintage Evans Bigsby, custom wound Mini Humbuckers. This guitar can go from hollow body to Strat Sound. He is looking forward to showing it off at PSP. Way cool. Sorry no pictures, I do not have a camera or cell phone. Peace...
High Flying Bird Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Sorry no pictures, I do not have a camera or cell phone. Peace... In my best David Carradine voice, "A simple man with rich way of life." I wouldn't mind getting a tic-or-two.

Hbom Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I remember that place from a loooong time ago. Never attended myself, but have friends who did. I'll be in for a couple of chances when they sort out the on line sales.
Doug Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 A friend and I each bought a ticket at the Fretboard Festival too. They were clear about it not being that guitar, but a new one being a similar build with that inlay. Pretty Lake Camp is a great camp in our area that I was glad to support! Here's the Mission statement from the camp's site: Pretty Lake. Beautiful Mission.Since 1916, Pretty Lake Camp, a non-profit community organization, has provided a cost-free summer camp experience to over 50,000 at-risk youth from Kalamazoo County. Throughout the years, we have enriched the lives of thousands of youth by offering a safe, structured and encouraging environment in a natural setting. We accommodate over 800 children each summer. Many of the children who attend Pretty Lake Camp face significant challenges at home, in school, and in their community. We strive to remove all barriers that prevent a child from being able to come to camp. Through the financial support of generous individuals and organizations, we provide everything that campers need during their session at camp – clothes, toiletries, bedding, towels, food, transportation to and from camp, and activities – at no cost to the camper or their family or caregiver. Our focus is to assist in the development of campers by teaching life skills and helping campers cope with life’s challenges. Our MissionPretty Lake’s mission is to provide adventure education and outdoor experiences that change lives and improve the community. We do this by: Providing a free summer camp for the youth most likely to benefit from the opportunity Offering a wide range of customized adventure experiences for youth and adults Promoting opportunities to experience, appreciate and steward our environment Making our unique natural environment and facilities available for the community to experience and enjoy Our VisionPretty Lake Camp will be a premier youth-serving organization through camping services. We will grow happy, resilient, strong children through compassionate and healthy relationships with caring mentors. Our FutureWe are committed to strengthening ourselves as the “community’s camp” – a year-round resource for our campers, families, schools, retreat guests and the community at large. True to our founder, Edward B. Desenberg, the core of the organization will be the on-going operation and continuous improvement of all of our programs.
scramopolis Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Hey everyone,Not sure if you all had seen this yet, but a local non profit here in Kalamazoo is raffling a specially made H-157 as a fund raiser in celebration of their 100th anniversary.Pretty Lake Camp is a completely cost free summer camp for kids in Kalamazoo. They provide everything that a kid needs to spend a week at summer camp (activities, food, clothes, toiletries etc) and they specifically look to bring out kids who otherwise might not get to experience nature, the outdoors, swimming in a lake and a lot of other things that many of us can easily take for granted.Looks like its a pretty sweet guitar (as all 157's are) and its even being made from a piece of maple from the camp's property.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1207937815900341.1073741850.112157908811676&type=1&l=439aa5bab0 You can buy raffle tickets for $10 each onlinehttp://www.prettylakecamp.org/guitarraffle/

brentrocks Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Pauly is a great guy and The Pretty Lake Camp is a great organization! My daughter has attended Girl Scout functions at this camp and i have seen first hand what a wonderful place this is.....i personally will be purchasing many tickets, not only to have a chance to win a "rad" guitar, but to give back to a place that gives so much to the community!!!
PunkKitty Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 I shared this to another forum that I'm active on. Hopefully it will raise more funds for the camp. http://markweinguitarlessons.com/forums/threads/custom-heritage-h-157-fundraising-raffle.75349/
Paulie Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hey everyone-- I'm Paulie, the Group Sales & Marketing Director for Pretty Lake-- I'm also a Heritage owner, so I'm a little embarrassed that our Facilities Director, Ron, was the one who think up the project. I've had the good fortune to hang out on Parsons St. while the body is taking shape and I've taken over 1,100 pictures of the process so far. I'm posting the best pics on Pretty Lake's facebook page, and here's a link to the album: http://bit.ly/h157-raffle For those of you that missed it, the maple top is carved from a tree that we had to remove at camp. Since it's our 100th year of service in Kalamazoo, we thought it would be a great fundraiser that supports kids in Kalamazoo. We're among the only camps in the nation that provide totally-cost-free summer camp for the kids that need it the most. Best case scenario, you win this guitar for a $10 raffle ticket. Worst case, you help some awesome kids have an awesome experience. You can buy as many tickets you want here: http://www.prettylakecamp.org/guitarraffle If you have any questions, you can also call at 269.375.1950 x113 or paulie@prettylakecamp.org Here's a peek of the body taking shape:
