thorsond Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Hello all... from the newbie to the HOC. I'm currently the owner of a '98 H-550 which I absolutely love. Fantastic guitar. When I purchased it (used) it came with a Gibson-branded case instead of a Heritage case. It seems to fit well, but I'm no expert in this. So three questions: 1) What would people recommend I do to confirm I'm getting a proper fit of my H-550 in the case? 2) If it's not right, does Heritage sell cases? and 3) I have another vintage (non-Gibson / non-Heritage) semi-hollow that needs a proper case... who would you recommend for reasonable/economical custom cases? I've purchased from G&G before but only for solid-body guitars, never for a semi- or hollow-body. Thanks!
High Flying Bird Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 These people make great cases. I have one for my Heritage acoustic and a H-137 I had came with one of their cases. I think Wolfe request these with his guitars. http://www.carryaccess.com/
big bob Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I'm going to need to see pictures of said guitars before I can make an informed decision.
davesultra Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I had a 150 with one of those cases. Not too shabby of quality.
Blunote Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Or, one of these might actually provide a higher level of protection. I know, they may not seem as 'cool' as the traditional style plywood cases, but they provide a lot more protection. http://www.hiscoxcases.com/electric-guitar-cases.htm#std-eg
thorsond Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 I'm going to need to see pictures of said guitars before I can make an informed decision. The one I don't have any case for is a 1961 Harmony Meteor H-71. http://www.guitar-museum.com/uploads/guitar/91/300246199939-1.jpg I'm assuming you know what an H-550 looks like.... I'm not sure what you're asking to see.

I'd sure want to see how my Harmony H-71 would fit in it before spending $... it's especially a problem since the Hiscox www page says that the only "USA" retailer is actually in Canada! :-\

I'll bet the acoustic case would fit it like a glove. If you liked the gig bag you will love their cases. Call them.
houndhome Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I have a pair of Harmony H75's with Bigsbys in Hiscox cases, and had to cut the underside of the lids a little to accomodate the Bigsbys but otherwise their 335 size cases fit very well.If no Bigsby then no problem, and the H61 should be the same outline size as a H75.
