MikeChandler Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I had the strings off... and had a set of digital Fowler calipers handy, so I took some measurements. NOTE: For the neck thickness measurements, I measured with the jaws of caliper fully inserted against the neck, so I was getting the fattest part of it, and I scooted up to directly behind the frets I call out, so I am measuring the neck/fretboard without the height of the frets. I believe this H-150 is a '59 carve. I'd be surprised with these measurements if it's anything else. Model: H-150 black & tan, Wolfe guitar run, refinished to a vintage nitro goldttop by Marty Bell: Thickness: 0.883" at 1st fret0.940 at 7th fret1.032" at 12th fret Taper: 1.704" at nut2.602" at 12th fret Fret size: fret height 0.046"fret width 0.104" Profile: 50s rounded D shape, according to the chart below -- So, what's yours?
DetroitBlues Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'd say the thickness of a fallen 200 year old oak tree works for me.... The U shape above is in the territory I like the most.

DetroitBlues Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 point taken. Most of the Heritages I've encountered fall under the 60's style Oval.
jimsoloway Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Mine is none of the above. At my request, it's a C shape with a bit of extra fullness in the shoulders, about .870 at the first fret and .960 at the octave. By far the most comfortable neck I've ever owned.
Polo Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Those neck specs sound pretty dreamy to me! I've ordered 4 different builds with the "59 neck spec" and all 4 are basically a D shape that fall between .883 and .910 @ 1st fret. A lot of folks like to call it the Marv carve but in all reality its really been the Arnie Carve coming out of 225 for quite a long time. Thin necks are creepy.
