But seriously guys, we're now offering "Pre-Canadian" Heritage's at a mere 70% premium. Get 'em while they're HOT!!

((all in good fun of course)

Can I order one with a robo-tuner, Maple Leaf inlays and a hologram of Alex Lifeson on the headstock yet?

What?! You don't want an Aldo Nova headstock hologram?!

I'd rather have Kim Mitchell's visage grace the headstock.

(Apologies to anyone who now has "Go for a Soda" stuck in your head).

One of the Toronto TV stations this morning showed a picture of a Canada goose drinking out of a Tim Horton's coffee cup, claiming this to be the ultimate symbol of everything Canadian.

I happen to disagree. That goose wasn't wearing a Maple Leafs sweater, or clutching a Molson Canadian in one foot.

Do you think there's room for them to put the logo of every Canadian hockey team that made the playoffs this year?

Well at least I can enjoy spring outside while you Michiganders have to be in front of a TV.

I kind of take exception to the picture of all the craftsmen standing around a pot hole in the road.

Potholes are a sort of Michigan tradition. Sometimes they even get their own names.

another interesting article: Heritage Guitar's old-school production to get new-wave marketing push

(sorry if it's already been linked elswhere)

Interesting article, thanks. I'm fairly certain I'll be in the minority on this, but I winced a bit at the article's talking about the Gibson smoke-stack and the Heritage/Gibson history yet again. It made me think that it may be about time Heritage let the Gibson part of its history--and even remnants like a collapsing smokestack--go. Instead, focus on creating guitars and a brand that doesn't need to tell the Gibson side of the story every time. Have its guitars seen as their own, high quality products without comparison rather than being alternatives.

Great article, thanks for posting. The line that jumps out at me is,

"There's still a group of guitar players out there that are looking for that difference and that quality and will pay for the difference," Howard said.

Sounds like a price increase maybe a comin'. It seems to me that one of the dealers on Gbase has already raised the prices on a couple of his pieces.

...or they just mean to prove, from their perspective, that there is a quality difference between, say, an Ibanez AF151 and a Heritage H575 and that the difference of $1000-$1500 would be well worth it. Of course, with the added visibility that the new owners intend to bring also probably bringing greater demand, they may raise prices due to that.

.

Remember that this is an article written by a Michigan based media group who is showing that K'zoo is proud of their 100 year tradition and history of guitar making. That includes Gibson. The smokestack is a icon for the city.

I can see and understand that, but it seems Heritage can scarcely be mentioned without that story. Also, having grown up in the rustbelt, I've seen plenty of closed up factories and non-functional smokestacks with faded names of companies that moved or closed. They typically were more sad than anything else, something akin to when a person keeps an ex's stuff around and doesn't realize it's time to move on. Again, I'm sure I'm in the minority of this (possibly even the only one).
