SemiHalo Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I have had a 555 for a few years and just happened to look at the serial number which is "ABS 150 2" So middle of 2010, 2nd guitar of the day - but what does the "S" signify? I read through the serial number decoder but do not see that mentioned anywhere.
SemiHalo Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Oh geez . . . never mind . . . I found the old receipt from Wolfe guitars: that "S" is just a smudged "3" - so its AB 315 02.
Polo Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I'll never get used to the hand written serial numbers...... Stenciled Serials 4 Life!!!
Gitfiddler Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I'll never get used to the hand written serial numbers...... Stenciled Serials 4 Life!!! +1. Hopefully the new owners will upgrade the current serial number process/design/application, etc. to look more professional.
TalismanRich Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I like the charm of the hand-written I wouldn't even mind if the person who did the finishing touches initialed it after they put the serial # on.
SemiHalo Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 The number was stamped on but still unclear with small, thick numbers. Weird spacing too: it looked like AB3 150 2 and not quite in a straight line - like each one was stamped one at at time. Variation and anomalies lets you know a human being made it. "Charm" is a good word for it. I would love to have the names of all the people who had a hand in making the guitar - but maybe not on the guitar itself.
