String Change whether they need it or not

Just changed the strings on my Heritage 1990 Sunburst Johnny Smith... it was time. New strings have an unwound 3rd string which allows me to bend a string every now and then. I like them but it is quieter acoustically. Intonation was easy, just push the bridge back and forth.

Strings old and new sitting on my guitar maintenance mat.

Cleanup rag and fretboard oil. I oil the board every string change.

So you're having problems with your neck too, Richard?

Since a little whiplash collision a few years back, mine's never been the same. Back's not right either.

Will have to try the beans & rice thing.

Glock mats yield the best tone.... Beautiful guitar, Richard.

Do you take all of the strings off at once, or change one at a time? I do one at a time on my 575, so I don't have to worry about the intonation changing because the bridge moved. Just curious.

I always change strings one at a time but on this string change the bridge moved anyway. No problem, just nudge the bridge until it's right.
