High Flying Bird Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 After selling the Firebird I have picked up a few things to get me by while stashing some cash for when I need a new laptop. One of the things I saw two weeks ago should surly get me by. It followed me home from the Guitar Center tonight. Fresh from Plano, TX. On the right is Jim's 1996 H-150 Special in Old Style Burst. On the left, my new baby. "One of these things is not like the other..."
High Flying Bird Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Ladies and gentlemen, the 2010 H-137 Custom! It has Lollar pups, supposedly. I will find out tomorrow night when I change the strings. I hit the truss rod nut for a 1/4 turn to give the neck some relief tonight. The neck should be stable by tomorrow night when I put some DRs on it. It sounds good and clean but powerful. Roll off the volume to 9 and it gets a good classic tone. Crank it to 10 and it howls!
schundog Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Nice going, Ron. I wouldn't have pegged that for a 137, but Custom is Custom! Slab 1 piece mahogany, or is that an arched maple cap? It looks to be very clean, congratulations. I dig the tulip tuners; I just checked, and all of my Heritage guitars, all but 1 bought used, have Grovers. I guess I never really noticed, until I see what a cool look the tulip tuners give. Enjoy the crap out of it, man!

It will be so easy to get around too. Nice small case. It is very clean.
High Flying Bird Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Bringing her in July?? Can a cat lick it's arse? All of my guitars have made the trip home.
bsck1 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Beautiful! It will undoubtedly scratch that itch for a long, long time. Congrats buddy.
Gitfiddler Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Sweet 137 Custom, Ron. Never seen one with a bound body. Very cool! When you get a chance, snap a picture of the control plate so we can see what the factory calls her.
DetroitBlues Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I've seen that one before, but I didn't believe it was a 137. Glad it's sorted out and went to a good home! Congrats Ron!
FredZepp Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Man... that 137 goldtop is a winner ! I suspect that you picked up a fine instrument at a fine bargain....
High Flying Bird Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Outstanding snatch, Bird. Isn't this your third H137? Yes. The other two had the P-90s on them. The old 137 first edition I got for my daughter a few years ago has humbuckers on it and it plays great. This guitar reminds me of hers.
High Flying Bird Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Sweet 137 Custom, Ron. Never seen one with a bound body. Very cool! When you get a chance, snap a picture of the control plate so we can see what the factory calls her. Sahib...
