High Flying Bird Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 At first glance I would have thought it was a 170.
JeffB Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 In another life, When we got our 1st shipment of a couple of these I said the same thing. No one knew what I was talking about til I showed them pics.
111518 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I wonder how much of this is the influence of pre-cnc jigs and machining and parts. If you start with the jigs or a boring machine to drill the four holes for the vol/tone controls and the back route on a LP style body, then decide to modify the body to a double cut, you have to move the pickup selector. So, where does it go that won't require a new machine or jig or a different back route and cover? Seems like a lot of these thicker body, double cut two-pickup guitars have a similar look and control layout --maybe they all have similarly evolved from LP-type machining.
