DetroitBlues Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 New Guitar Day... Seems like such an innocent term, but nothing prepares you for what it really means to someone like me. Some of you have noticed the pre-NGD post about our journey to 225 Parsons Street. However, more inclusive photos have not been provided. But before I get there, let me describe what I consider to be the best guitar I have ever played. 2016 Heritage H-535 Custom Order. Specs: Highly Flamed Maple Top, Back, and Rims Wine Red Translucent finish Gold Tone Pros Bridge and Tailpiece Gold Kluson Keystone Style Tuners (not actual Klusons) Seth Lover Gold Humbuckers Inlaid "The Heritage" Logo Gold Foil Top Hat Control Knobs Cream Binding Bound Headstock .900" at the 1st 1.00" at the 12th Most of the specs are standard fare for Heritage. But you all know that the neck is my sticky point with guitars. Sort of like Goldie Locks... This one is too small, this one is too big; but this one... this one is just right. The neck thickness is very comfortable; the action is setup nicely for my tastes. When I play it, it feels right. As if I have played it before, many times over. It is uncanny the ease I have playing with it. Seems so familiar to my hands and my ears. Acoustically, it resonates fabulously. You can feel it ring out in the neck. It is alive is the best way to describe it, if you can relate. Perhaps it is too hard to explain I guess. When I plug it in, nothing sounds quite like it. Better then my Les Paul, better than my LP Jr, better than what I remember about my old Epi Dot. The sustain is incredible. I can grab a note, hold it and when it finishes ringing out, the controlled feedback keeps it going indefinitely. It is really that good. While I'm sure there is a major honeymoon phase going on, my first impressions are boiled down to this. This Heritage H-535 is unlike any guitar I have ever played. It is truly a magnificent guitar I am blessed to own. Enough of my ramblings... Here she is.
Millennium Maestro Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 It was a pleasure to assist you from concept to completion and then delivery. You are being slightly modest on the upgrades it has . What you have there includes a special neck carve, upgrades include Premium finish, Gold hardware, bound headstock, inlaid laminated headstock, Grover deluxe Tuners, dealer supplied knobs, Black rings... I firmly believe that HOC members receive some special attention at the factory, you are instrumental with the current PSP events and I know that has helped, we have also had the privilege of discussing this build with the Masters 10 Months ago at PSP which was about half of the time that this build has been planned to celebrate a significant date. I am so happy. you REALLY deserve this!
Gitfiddler Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 DB is one particular, and hard to please player. Your posts about neck profiles, pickups and weight are well documented. That makes it especially sweet to see you with THE ONE! Play it in good health, young man.
DavesNotHere Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 That is spectacular Josh! I am so happy you found the one.
LK155 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Very nice, Josh. H535s have a way of becoming our favourites. Sounds like yours is well on its way to attaining that status. Enjoy.
Farmboyjo Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 And from the serial number, the 1st guitar completed that day! Meaningless really I suppose, but if it was my guitar it would make me just that little bit happier. Congrats on a killer guitar.
Vanschoyck Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Fabulously appointed and executed, congratulations and happy new guitar day!
Stringman Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I have to say: That is One Very Special Guitar! Congratulations. Well Done and enjoy it in good health.
Steiner Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Oh Baby! Love the porn. You have documented her well. Congrats and Happy NGD!!!
pressure Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Fab H535 Josh. Make sure that guitar stand is nitro safe. See you at PSP.
schundog Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I don't think I have ever seen a more stunning 535. I'm glad you chose to go the custom-build route; you know the features that are deal breakers for you, and had the perfect guitar, for you built. Enjoy it, Josh!
ElNumero Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Everything has already been said so about this unbelievable guitar, so nothing more to add, other than enjoy it every single day and play it in good health. Oh, and in case nobody mentioned this already, I need a second 535 so I will take dibbs if the neck proves to be not satisfactory!!
Blunote Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Since no one else has..... Dibs! Although I might have to grind the neck down.
Gillnetter Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Congratulations on the end of a very long road. She's a beauty!
Yooper Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 "Dibs", if you must, gentlemen. We all share an immediate attraction to this guitar. This gorgeous, custom crafted beauty is where she belongs. This will be a true love for many years for Josh. He, Shundog and I know Old Dot is special indeed. She sings sweetly and serves well, yet still inspires one to reach for a finer Kalamazoo semi-hollow. I hope to be the third person to follow this Dot's path to a better true love.
