Boutiki Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Hey Heritage lovers, I just picked up this 1986 Heritage guitar. I can't find a comparable example anywhere on line (I'm wondering if it is unique). It is a solid body, single cut-away with a funky offset shape. Like all Heritage, the quality construction and hardware is first-rate. I'm curious if anyone has seen this body shape before, if you can tell me what model it is, what kind of pick ups it would be fitted with, and any additional insight you might have. It's super cool, and my son totally digs it. I'd very much appreciate any insight. Thanks!
myoldfriend Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Someone with more knowledge than I might recognize that sweetheart of an instrument, if it's not a one-off build. Most Heritage guitars will have a sticker, with hand-written model information, affixed to the inside of the plastic control cavity cover on the back of the guitar. Wonderful aged finish there!
FredZepp Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Of course these are quite rare... I remember when Brent found this one , in curly maple...
JeffB Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 That's a very cool looking chair! The guitar also. Good pic.
bsck1 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 That's a very cool looking chair! The guitar also. Good pic. Great photo! Cool guitar find. Congrats and enjoy.
Gianluca Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 wow didn't know of that model, thanks FredZepp for the pics
Genericmusic Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I'm not sure but those may very well be Kenny Rambo builds. Somebody with more knowledge of the companies history should know.
Boutiki Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Very cool! Thanks so much for the info. and for the pictures FredZepp. I have a friend in Grand Rapids who knows some former Heritage employees. Maybe he can help discover exactly who is responsible for the design.
brentrocks Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The guys name that designed that.....his last name is Rambo
FredZepp Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I thought someone had one of these custom made fairly recently...? .. But search leads me to no results..
Genericmusic Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I thought someone had one of these custom made fairly recently...? .. But search leads me to no results.. I remember that too.
Boutiki Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 I thought someone had one of these custom made fairly recently...? .. But search leads me to no results.. So Heritage will still make their older designs today? That's very cool. Where might I find examples of their other obscure models?
DetroitBlues Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 So Heritage will still make their older designs today? That's very cool. Where might I find examples of their other obscure models? They can, if they still have a template and if you want to pay for it.
Boutiki Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks RSquared. So this just keeps getting more interesting. I sent an email to the folks at Heritage Guitars yesterday. I asked a couple questions about our H-125 and inquired about the factory tour (we live less than 2 hours away and I thought it would fun for my family and educational for my son). I was very surprised when they called me this morning, and even more surprised to hear, 'You've got a rare bird there." They confirmed that the guitar was designed by Rambo, and said that it is one of two or three that were made for the NAMM show. Apparently the response at from the show was lukewarm, so the model never went into production. There are three shown on this thread, our TV yellow guitar, the red one, and the curly maple guitar. That may very well represent every one made by Heritage. It's interesting that they each have a different finish and different switch/ knob configuration. They may have been trying to decide which variation would be be best.
Doug Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Seems like that is about the closest thing I've seen to an "SG" type of guitar from Heritage. Very cool!
Spectrum13 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Seems like that is about the closest thing I've seen to an "SG" type of guitar from Heritage. Very cool! You are 100% half right. Has Pressure tried that approach?
barrymclark Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 It's like a Les Paul, SG and Firebird all in one shot.
