Lets Talk About Heritage Stingers...again.

I know we hit this topic a while back, but man, I really like the nice stinger that comes standard on the rear headstock of a Golden Eagle, Sweet 16 and possibly the H550.

Heritage used to use that effect on some of its solid body guitars of all price points. Now, stingers are an upcharge, custom option. To me they look especially stunning combined with a flamey 5 peice neck.

What do you guys and gals think about stingers?

Let's see em if you got em!

I too find the stinger to be a highly attractive Heritage attribute!

If I were king they'd be standard on every single Heritage guitar.

Sadly, I've only got 1 stinger in the bunch......at this moment.

Not sure what you mean by a stinger. Could you post an example?

The black back on the headstock, that comes to a point (see above pic).

And, yes they're way cool!!!

I have Stingers on all my Heritage guitars. The first one was on a Millie and it was the standard solid black.

Then I thought wouldn't it be nice to see the neck laminates all the way to the top of the neck. I asked Heritage if they would do a Stinger as a tint of black so the five pieces of the neck could be visible all the way. They said they never have done anything like that but would give it a try.

Here is my second Heritage H170 with a tinted Stinger. It turned out a little too dark, it's lighter in person, but you can still see the headstock thru it.

Third try is the winner. A Heritage Prospect with a "Ghost Stinger", our own Big Bob came up with this name for a transparent Stinger.

This is how I always thought they should look. Heritage nailed it on this one. This guitar will be at PSP9.

Richard, I love that translucent stinger headstock! I have had a few, usually on early model Heritages. The two that remain are my 1989 H-535 and my HFT-445 acoustic.

I just checked...6 Heritage guitars, six stingers. My self esteem rose a bit.

Oops....I meant six heritage guitars, three stingers.

I have never liked stingers. But this one is pretty cool. But I still have no interest in them in the slightest for my own guitars.

I believe this is the long tenon model as well.

I've never been a big fan of stingers. I dont hate them but they certainly are not a selling point IMO...

The stingers remind me of the Eddie's 5150 guitar. Always make me think of a DIY paint job

Who knows....I bought that one off a skinny legged gypsy who seemed to be waiting for me in the parking lot an offramp diner just outside Louisville.

I am sitting in a hotel across the street from the Fricsh's right now. Second leg of the trip tomorrow.

Love 'em! Used them more than once to solve a difficult refinishing dilemma on a broken headstock repair....
