Spectrum13 Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 However, the neck shaping is now completed using a special jig to improve consistency. Custom neck shapes will be a substantial upcharge. No idea on the body shape, it may be too costly. The estimate cost is possibly twice that of a standard H150; I'm still waiting for actual price, the approval process is by committee now. All the new owners must approve custom orders, not the shop foreman. I know they have included some standard changes that were upgrades before such as a bone nuts and nickel hardware. Switching hardware from chrome to nickel is awesome too, wish my 535 was nickel. I know that is also a cost increase they absorbed. Realistically, they have made it difficult to custom order anything. Be either intentional or inadvertent. I'd also assume when they are ready to assume full operations there will be a standard production line and a custom shop line (I'd wager the custom shop will be the old factory floor space reconfigured for tours that don't interrupt production) For once my lack of impulse control paid off. So glad I got my three customs before Marv, Jim, JP and Bill turned over the keys. Most of us knew we had a good thing going at the time and good things don't last forever. Josh, you got your 535 in under the wire.
ElNumero Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I am encouraged by everything I see. I had a wonderful hour long tour by Pete Farmer last Wednesday, along with a small group of people that had also traveled there specifically to see the place. Pete knows his way around every nook and cranny of the shop. It was nice to see some new faces in production, as well as some familiar faces. Pete said this is the last time anybody would see the production floor the way it has been for the last 31 years, with the remodeling pending. Heritage never had a financial controller, so that is why they were probably making marginal profits up to now. The reality is that the old regime could have made more money if they had that financial expertise behind them. I think Vince gave it a whirl, but there were disagreements along the way which caused him to leave. I don't see the new custom shop pricing as negative, I see it as aligning the pricing structure with what it should be, if they are truly competing against companies like PRS, the G custom shop as well as small custom builders out there. Only time will tell.

Of course I believe he just printed that from his home computer.

Man, to think I actually gave you a smidgen of credit in a private conversation awhile ago. Mind you, it wasn't enough to even get you remotely close to having positive cool points working in your favor, but it was credit nonetheless. Whelp, there went that..... .....Ska dooooooosh!

Jay you should know those boys couldn't print a document if their lives depended on it. ;^) Actually I made that fake degree for him...

jaywolfe Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Well, before you pull the lever, please allow me to explain the inside humor. Bill is a good friend and we have been so for 3 decades. This "joke" about his Biz school degree has been ongoing for 20+ years. Those of you that will recall Bill's work area prior to the recent change of ownership will know what I'm referring to. Bill's the best, and I appreciate him greatly. My little joke should've included this explanation and I apologize for any offense. BTW- Marv called me yesterday to chat. He's doing much better and is spending a lot more time in the shop. Still doesn't want to make anymore 357's, but it was great to chat with that guy. Regards, Jay- of the messy desk also.

It was a great pleasure to see and chat with Marv briefly on my recent trip to Kzoo. He lost a bit of weight, but looked good and was explaining the fine art of neck rolling while Arnie did a live demonstration. I am sure the next time I visit the premises, things are going to look much different. Oh, can I place an order for a 357 Jay?
High Flying Bird Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Kinda like you made that "wanted for having s** with farm animals" poster with my photo years ago?? Yes, dogs actually. ;^)

If you can't joke around what can you do? I took your comments in good humor.
