Stringman Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Guys: I have a yearning for a certain Heritage Roy Clark that has come on the market, but am wondering if there would be much tonal difference between it and a Gibson ES-335? Just wondering if they are similar, very similar, exactly the same or nothing alike from your experience. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Stringman
DC Ron Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 There have been at least three Roy Clark guitars: A single cutaway semi with rosewood fingerboard, the same with an ebony board, and a double cutaway that is very much shaped like the H535/ES335. Is it the last one you're interested in? Can help with the first one only.
HANGAR18 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I'm pretty sure that the Roy Clark models are full hollowbody while the Gibson ES335 & Heritage 535 models are semi hollow, meaning that they have a floating center block installed inside the body. That being said, Roy Clark models are very desirable but different than the 335's/535's.
DC Ron Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The 3 RC models I'm familiar with are all semi's, at least the 1st two had floating blocks. They are all nice guitars. Here's the Version 1 I once owned...
Stringman Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like I already missed out on the guitar.
