PunkKitty Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 That's a very nice 535, rjstauber. Congratulations!
TalismanRich Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Great looking 535, RJ. I completely understand the dream of having a good semihollow. When I was a young, aspiring guitar player back in the early 60s I would just stare at the red 335 that was in my music teacher's display case. Unfortunately, at 11 years old, I could only wish for the $$ needed to buy one. It only took about 50 years before I finally got my faded cherry H535. It was worth the wait!
rjstauber Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Thanks guys, I have been really enjoying this new guitar, my first semi-hollowbody. I have several small 5W tube amps (Fender Champion 600, Gretsch Electromatic G5222, Vox AC4 TV8), and the Heritage sounds really nice through the Fender Champion 600 (which I have upgraded/modded severly to a 5E1 Fender Tweed layout with upgraded orange drop caps, high quality tubes and a nice Jensen speaker). The Gretsch amp got modified to a 5F1, which sounds a lot darker (usually too dark for guitars with Humbucker pickups but really nice with single coil guitars). The Fender Champion sounds too bright to me in combination with a single coil guitar (Strat/Tele) but really nice with the Heritage.I also like the Heritage in combination with the Vox AC4 TV8 (all stock, not modified), and you can get some really nice crunch sounds (for Blues etc.) with that amp. The higher output of the Humbucker pickups really bring this amp to distortion at low volumes already. Nice for home practice.I am a happy camper...
