Heritage Henry Johnson

When searching for an L5, I was asked if I would be interested in a Henry Johnson Model with HRW's. It is in mint condition. Not too much information on these. The cost is significantly less that the L5. Has anybody owned or played one and could comment. Thanks and Happy New Year!

I guess not too many were made? Seems like a golden eagle with some bling.

. . . with a Florentine cutaway, built in pickups and the metal bridge saddle. There must be someone here that has one and can tell you more. I have an L5 and two Heritage arch tops. I love my L5 but I play my spruce top 575 a lot more. Different critters for sure; I've become very sensitive to scale length in recent years.

As far as dimensions, scale and woods used , it does look like a Golden Eagle.

( specs say the Henry Johnson has 1/4" more depth )

I would expect the Henry Johnson to have parallel bracing like an Eagle Classic , where the Golden Eagle would have cross bracing.. due to the pickup layout on each.

I honestly thought (and thought I heard it from the owners) that there was never a Henry Johnson production guitar made. Yes, a handful of Florentine Golden Eagles were made (I have one), but not sure a real Henry Johnson Signature model was produced.

I would reach the guitar and seller thoroughly.

Pictures would be helpful.

That is the exact guitar I am considering. As far as I am aware...Guitars 'n Jazz has a solid reputation. I have had good dealings with Lou.

If that is a HJ, which it probably is, that is the first one I have ever seen. A rare bird indeed.

Good luck.

Lou has two HJ's for sale on Gbase, a 2001 and 2005. They look exactly the same to me however.

I think the 2005 is in inventory. Will find out next week. Happy New Year guys! Appreciate your responses.
