DLDTEX Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Greetings I recently purchased a used H-150 that turns out to be chambered. Anybody have any experiences with a chambered H-150. The guitar is very resonant unplugged but rather dark amplified. Feels great to play and weights a little over 8lbs. Would love anybody else experience with a chambered 150. DLDTEX Posted January 13, 2017 Author Posted January 13, 2017 I will produce some pictures. I took the covers off the pots and switch and was going to update the pots. It is a gold top Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Millennium Maestro Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Steiner! Input please! They are great guitars, the LW chamber is an nice upgrade for a nice + $300 value
golferwave Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I have an H-157LW with P-90 pickups and it is my #1 P-90 guitar. It does have a woody, resonant tone which in my opinion is fantastic with the P-90's. It weighs less than 8 lbs so it's very easy on the back.
Gitfiddler Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 This thread has an image of a Heritage mahogany billet hollowed/chambered for a 150/157: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/31129-h150-lw-weight-relief-method/?hl=chambered&do=findComment&comment=432062
tulk1 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 The LW stuff is cool. Pretty much how they build the Millies, isn't it? Even if not, to me my Millie NFH feels very much like an LW model, and it can be quite dark. Took a bit of pup adjusting to get the neck balanced with the bridge. But it can be done.
DLDTEX Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Here is a picture. Still getting to her. Pretty cool guitar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DLDTEX Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Sorry for the poor statement in my previous post. I was trying to say, getting to know her. Really should reread my posts before hitting...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Buckyrock Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I have two LWs - a 150 and a 157. I dig 'em. They weigh about 7.5 pounds each. They do sound a little different from a solid version - I have a solid 150 to compare to them. The solid one is "deeper" and "punchier".
ElNumero Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I have one, its ALSB (Almond Sunburst). I will post pics for you. I never took time to compare to my other 3 150's which are solid, but I will.
TalismanRich Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 DLDTEX, What the the pickups in your 150? That may be the place to start if you want to add some snap or brightness to the 150. I have a an H140 that had Schallers which were really dark sounding. I changed them out with Alinico Pro IIs and and it transformed the guitar. The Schallers in my 157 and 535 are both much brighter than the ones in the 140. My Mille has Seth Lovers, which I think have a really nice balance. I picked up a set to put in the 157. I want to do some comparison recordings to see how much change they make. I just haven't spent the time to set things up to do the recordings. Gotta change strings and all that first to give a true impression.
DLDTEX Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Sorry for delay in TalismanRich. It came a set of Antiquities (I hope that is the right spelling) and after some adjusting and balancing they are sounding alright. There may be some tweaks upcoming but now it is getting to her. It has been awhile since playing a "LP" style guitar but this was a good pickup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TalismanRich Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 The antiquities are probably the reason you feel its dark sounding. They are definitely on the warm side, similar to a Seth Lover. It also depends on what your previous reference is. Compared to a Strat or Tele, any humbucker will seem dark. That's when I hit the tone controls on the amp. Dial out some low end, pull up the presence and you're ready to go. Its a sweet looking goldtop. Once you get things dialed in, I think you'll really enjoy playing her!
