MikeH516Number1 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Hi first time at this sort of thing. Just wanted to share my joy of buying my first Heritage. Familiar with company and back in the late 80's I visited the plant. Its a H516. The first model production made and signed by the four originals. Bought it from Wolfe Guitars off Reverb. Usually don't buy guitars without playing them first but I had played enough Heritage's that I was reasonably sure I'd be happy with the outcome. And I was. A beautiful piece, plays great and sounds good. (Still dialing in my sound).
PunkKitty Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Congratulations and welcome to the HOC! We require pictures with new guitar posts. Well, we just require pictures of Heritage guitars all the time.
Spectrum13 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Mike Congratulations and welcome to the HOC! Rules: #1 Photos required. #2 If you post "1st Heritage" you are required to follow up with a 2nd Heritage.
kennyv4 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Congratulations on your purchase. Wolfe Guitars is one of those guitar stores that a person can trust. One of only a few places I would buy a guitar site unseen.
FranzMohamitz Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Congratulations on your new guitar! I am however thinking you may have a H-576 with a sloppy label.
pegleg32 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I don't know, without a picture it could be an H-157?
Gitfiddler Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Is this it? https://www.gbase.com/gear/heritage-guitars-of-kalamazoo-h516-number-one-1999-tobacco-burst
CJTopes Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I remember my first Heritage, That was four Heritages ago... lol
jaywolfe Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 The H516 is the forerunner to the Kenny Burrell Groove Master model and this particular one is the 1'st one Heritage made. When Mr. Burrell and I designed the Super KB model, I proposed we do a lower price model and handed him this same H516 to play at a LA NAMM show. He really liked it and we designed the Groove Master model at that meeting. The H516 is the same physical dimensions as a H575 except it's a laminated top & back & Venetian cutaway. They sound terrific and are comfortable to play. My late Pal Al Caiola preferred a H516 to a H575, for the tone mainly, and had one made with a black finish, gold hardware, block inlays & bound neck & peghead. Al loved his H516 and played it all over the world for almost 15 years. I kept this one unplayed until last week. CONGRATULATIONS to it's new & happy caretaker. Jay Wolfe

MikeH516Number1 Posted March 12, 2017 Author Posted March 12, 2017 Finally, sorry it took so long, needed to resize my photos so they could be uploaded. The inside pics were a little difficult to get. Enjoy-thank you.
MikeH516Number1 Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 The only thing I don't know is exactly what kind of pick up these are?? M
PunkKitty Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 The only thing I don't know is exactly what kind of pick up these are?? M It looks like they are Schaller Golden 50's.
Gitfiddler Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 The only thing I don't know is exactly what kind of pick up these are?? M They are most likely Schallers. They were standard fare for Heritage back in 1999 when your H516 was made. Another tell-tale sign of Schallers are the dual adjustment screws on each pickup ring. Wolf's ad for your guitar identified them only as "dual vintage type low output..."
