ascott Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Hi All, I have an H535 on the way thats in Antique sunburst. The swatches on the Heritage website are pretty small. Im wondering if I should have it custom ordered in Dark Cherry red. I guess Ill just wait until the guitar comes in, and I can work it out with Jay Wolf and see. Ill look through the Gallery, but an opinions would be great, just dont want a bright red sunburst. Thanks, -Scott
khmr33 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Just as a general example, my H150 is an Almond Sunburst... That's how it looked in the original photos from eBay. Naturally I was nervous... I wasn't too hot on the finish but Leftys take what we can get. When I got the guitar and opened the case, I almost cried... This is much closer to what it really looks like in person, more brown and gold than red and orange. It's absolutely stunning in person. Point is, photographing guitar finishes is hard and I think you'll have little to really fear. When he was six, he believed that the moon overhead followed him... by nine he had deciphered the illusion. Trading magic for fact, no tradebacks. So this is what it's like to be an adult. If he only knew now, what he knew then...
kidsmoke Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 well, computer screens, telephone screens, cameras, fluorescent vs incandescent....so many variables play into what your eyes are telling your brain. I own an 535 in Antique sunburst, and if you look through my myriad photos, on the same computer at the same time, the color varies significantly.
ascott Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Thanks for the pics....basically going between antique cherry burst, dark cherry burst, or almond burst. Trying to get a better sense from all the web pics. Like you said, in person makes all the difference.
Yooper Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 As seen above, Antique Sunburst will show more red in bright light. It will appear as a dark burst in lower light.

And there's the particular wood in your instrument, who's mixing the color in the lacquer, spraying it, what the weather's like.... One thing I think everyone here will vouch for is how superb Heritage finishes are. Who'd want them to look the same?! Part of the fun of an order! And, FYI, it seems to me Antique burst is one of their more consistent finishes.
yoslate Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Here's my ASB 535 I have an ASB 535, too...one of the best guitars I've ever owned, with nice wood! But...that top on yours is just exceptional!!
