holyroller Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Hello everyone ,, I think if possible that heritage should make there own pickups . Most people replace the stock pickups anyway . Gibson has a fine lineup of pickups . I know there's plenty of pickup manufactures out there that could do this . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
holyroller Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 Would they private label them as heritage pickups . It's the voice of the guitar. I feel they should have there own pickups . Maybe a r/d team ? Hrw pickups are awesome and impossible to find. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gitfiddler Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Heritage has been installing Duncan branded pickups over the last several years, and most folks keep em.
TalismanRich Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Regardless of what comes installed, there will be people who will change them out. It probably wouldn't make a difference if Jon Grundy was winding them on his Slug 101 and putting a Heritage label on them. If they had Heritage branded pickups, SOMEBODY will tell you they are a. too bright b. too dark c. sterile d. too hi-fi e. too muddy f. too harsh g. too clean h. too weak i. too strong Putting an SD in as standard is smart. They are pretty consistent and generally well regarded as a good pickup. You can always order an upgraded pickup, or just replace them as you see fit.
Kuz Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 The unofficial official Heritage pickup was Schallers for years. Ren Wall even had his own signature patented HRW pickup. When Schaller became unreliable with the shipment of their orders, Heritage moved over to Duncans. I disagree Heritage should build pickups. I have always believed companies should produce what they make best, in this case Heritage should stick to guitars. Like Rich said, guitarist are a picky group. If I buy another Heritage, I am going to send them Throbaks to install in the guitar and get the small credit from the default Heritage pickups.
holyroller Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 I don't know ,, I still think they should come up with something .herutage should have there own sound , even if it's basic pickup . It should complement there guitar .usuallyboutique guitars builders use all kinds already .Plus a few make there own . I still say they should have there own . I get the,,, it's easiest just to use a another guitar pickup builders pickup. But it would say a lot if heritage had there own bad ass pickups . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

DetroitBlues Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I see no issue with Heritage using SD and Lollar. There are limited editions that use Throbak, but for the price point Heritage has moved to, I'd almost expect Throbak's to be a stock pickup. Really set them apart from a crowd if they did. But I have no problem with my Seth Lovers.
ElNumero Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 They sold the old pickup winders to throbak Seymour Duncan has one of the original Gibson winders as well

holyroller Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 Why don't they just go with the throwbacks?.i. Ever got into Duncan's. I just. Stick with Gibson pickups. There classic is hard to beat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kuz Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 If Heritage went with Throbaks and raised the base price $300 more, how much of you guys would bitch that the price was too high and I don't need those fancy pickups? If you want Throbaks then order the guitar with Throbaks and the upcharge. If you don't want Throbaks, then no upcharge. I don't see the problem here. It not like you can't order the guitar with different pickups.

holyroller Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 I was just thinking of them. What is there stock pickup? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PunkKitty Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I was just thinking of them. What is there stock pickup? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Seymour Duncan 59's or Seth Lovers. Both are fine choices. Lollar and Throbak (and others) are available for an upcharge. I can see Heritage having a model made for them by one of the pickup shops. I don't think it make sense for Heritage to market and sell their own pickups.
TalismanRich Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Face it, the marketplace is flooded with pickup winders these days. Besides the big boys (Duncan, Lollar, Fralin, Dimarzio), you could probably name 25 other smaller winders, like Throbak, Sheptone, Stephens, Barden, Bill Lawrence, Holmes. Creamtone..... etc. That doesn't even take into account the OEMs and importers, like GFS. Do we really NEED a new pickup on the market?

LittleLeroy Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 so you guys have never tried WIZZ pups? http://www.wizz-pickups.net/ I understand Ken McKay uses them as well as Throbaks.... and Charlie Gelber (ES-335.org) swears by them, too. I've never tried WIZZ myself. I would have tried a couple in one of my 335s, but then I got the H-535 with Seths and the rest, as they say, is history. ;-)
tbonesullivan Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Gibson makes pickups. Fender makes pickup. And there are still a TON of boutique winders out there being highly successful. There are plenty of people who buy Fender, Gibson, etc and promptly replace the pickups. Fender, Gibson, PRS, etc make a lot more guitars than Heritage, so it makes sense for them to make them in house. Heritage only makes a fraction, and honestly the cost of tooling up, the extra workers required, the molds, etc would not be worth it, especially when so many great pickup makers are already out there. So yeah, order a heritage, and get the exact pickups you want.
HANGAR18 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Because they have always sucked at hardware. Besides, why re-invent the wheel? Heritage builds great guitars. They ought to stick to that and let those companies who know how to build nuts and tuners and bridges and pickups be the ones to have their parts installed into Heritage guitars.
Gtwibs Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I agree with others that it's a bad idea at this point.
