LittleLeroy Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I came across these serial numbers: Q28702 R28803 If I understand the dating scheme correctly, both of these guitars appear to have been made on a Sunday (exactly a year apart). Could this be possible? Note that 2000 was a leap year. https://www.epochconverter.com/days/2000 https://www.epochconverter.com/days/2001
schundog Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 No, they have never been open on weekends, and for many years they were closed on Friday as well. I didn't take a look at the dates you referenced, but the answer to your question is "no."
LittleLeroy Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 thanks schundog. check those dates when you get a moment. they do fall on Sundays, oddly enough.
Millennium Maestro Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Another Handmade guitar oddity. The new corporate system is generating the serials at time of quote, so in August I will be taking possession of a guitar that has serials dating to AG08301 which by definition is Oct 2016, Go figure!
HANGAR18 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Do you have any good photos of the serial numbers in question? It is not uncommon for the first letter to be misread due to the goofball set of stamps that they used to use before the set got broken. Misreading the year then is the most common reason for a date of manufacture appearing to be on a day they were closed.

Maybe he'll post a pic of the serial, though I doubt he got it wrong.
