Conneazoo Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I've just ordered a new amplifier and the one thing that it doesn't have on board is a boost/solo function. Well, I certainly need one for lead work. I have an MXR Dyna/Comp and a CAE Line Driver. I plan on putting it last in my effects loop. However, I've also been looking at the TC Spark, Xotic EG Boost, and the MXR Micro Amp. Primarily, I'm looking for a push in volume with little coloration. Suggestions? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Gitfiddler Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I use a Boss EQ pedal for clean boost, but there are a number of other good ones available.
notbillgelder Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 I don't use a boost any more. I just crank the amp up a little and use a volume pedal. What amp did you order?
Conneazoo Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 I don't use a boost any more. I just crank the amp up a little and use a volume pedal. What amp did you order? Orange Rocker 32. Thanks to all that have replied. It makes for good research via YouTube. The volume pedal may be a good idea. In the past I've had to wedge the footlever in a particular spot. So it wont do a full sweep. Either at my rhythm level or wide open for leads. Seems I'm too clumsy to properly operate one. LOL!!! Think I'll try the Line Driver first before I make a solid choice. Thanks again everyone. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
DetroitBlues Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Or perhaps just use your volume knob? Just be sure to change them to 11's.
JeffGuitar Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I'm a big fan of the Xotic RC booster. It's excellent and doesn't color the tone.
duhvoodooman Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 If you can solder and follow directions: https://buildyourownclone.com/collections/boosts-preamps/products/27v-boost-kit Ultra-transparent, tons of headroom, tiny footprint, and just $65 + shipping.

t0aj15 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I used to use the original version of this, http://www.seymourduncan.com/pedal/pickup-booster , but after I got the FX8 I no longer have any need for any other pedals of any kind.

Conneazoo Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 Stupid phone!!! LOL! So, thanks for all of the research material. It was cool. I ended up putting my CAE Line Booster last in the chain within the effects loop and it works like a champ. Kinda cool, because now I can search for an overdrive pedal to run on my clean channel for that in between drive sound. Thanks again! Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
big bob Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 I don't use a boost any more. I just crank the amp up a little and use a volume pedal. What amp did you order? Me Too.
yoslate Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 A bit off the beaten path. Port City Salem Boost. Most effective, transparent clean boost on the planet, period.
