brentrocks Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Apparently there is a fire on the 3rd floor at 225 Parsons st. Where the old spray booths used to be??
Yooper Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 I hope everyone is safe. Please let there be no guitars in that room.
brentrocks Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 That is actually a long way from the new production area. But Everything in that area is a tinderbox. Old wood floors, ect. Praying that it gets contained quickly!!!
brentrocks Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 I just talk to someone at channel 3 news. They claim that it was smoke from a grinder. That's all that they could tell me so I guess we'll have to wait and see what it actually is.
notbillgelder Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 I was told it was just a little flare up during demolition. No injuries.
skydog52 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 They where just roasting some Maple Wood. ..............................NOT Glad all is OK
ElNumero Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Whew, guitars are precious but people are irreplaceable!!
Gitfiddler Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Whew, guitars are precious but people are irreplaceable!! +1!!
DetroitBlues Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Nothing like the rich aroma of roasted maple... in all seriousness, hope its truly minor issue
myoldfriend Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Somebody heatin' up da lunch? I just talk to someone at channel 3 news. They claim that it was smoke from a grinder. That's all that they could tell me so I guess we'll have to wait and see what it actually is.
TalismanRich Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 A fire around those spray booths (even if they were not in use) would be bad. Nitrocellulose residue is HIGHLY flammable. Looking at MLive, there was no mention of any incidents at Parsons Street.
PunkKitty Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I checked the Kalamazoo Gazette page this morning. There was nothing about the fire.
TalismanRich Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I would say this is a case of "no news is good news!" 4 weeks and counting!
Millennium Maestro Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 All is well, the factory was performing demo on the 3rd floor near the original paint booth that ignited that old nitro, they had the sprinklers and close fire depot to save the day.
Farmboyjo Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Good news. All that old structure and chemicals would definitely be trouble. And on a selfish note- My tour is set for Weds Aug 16th! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dick Seacup Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Personally, I am thinking they started the fire to mark ten years of HOC. I mean, HOC started up just about the time the place had the fire the first time, eh? What are the chances? Anyway, it's either that or they elected a new pope.
