volhoo Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Anyone done this? I am seriously considering this on my H-535 http://townerusa.com/towner-vibrato-systems/ - Vince
Polo Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Why jack around with what appears to be a perfect guitar? Seriously, that guitar is perfect. I'd consider viewing this situation as raw motivation towards buying another guitar all together. Either way, enjoy your new guitar!
DetroitBlues Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Do something that is reversible. Use a Vibramate.
TalismanRich Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 It looks like the Towner system is reversible. Still, I'm not a big fan of Bigsby guitars. The idea always sounds great, but in the end the execution doesn't seem to meet expectations.

I really LOVE it and couldn't imagine owning the guitar without the Bigsby!!!!
ElNumero Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I just read an review article in an old Vintage Guitar mag about this Towner down tension bar. Apparently it keeps the guitar in tune, much better than just using the stock Bigsby setup. They also offer an adapter plate so your strap button is much more accessible. I can mail the article to you if you would like or you may be able to access it online.
Genericmusic Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 It's your guitar. Do with it what you like. If it's reversible no harm done if you don't like it. I bet you will though. Bigsbys are cool especially when playing Rock-a-Billy.
volhoo Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Yeah - thanks much guys - I know it's a controversial issue - but - after reading everything I could about this system - and because of my strong desire for a tremolo system on electric guitars - I am going to give it a try. I remain hopeful. - Vince
High Flying Bird Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 I have a 550 with a Bigsby. The wiggle arm adds too much weight to the bottom of the guitar. Best try a jig to see if you like it before buying a new guitar.

Leduke Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I always heard that bigsby B7 was made for guitar with central blocks (335 / 535) and b6 for full hollowbody (330 / 530).
volhoo Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 OK - it's done - so far I'm loving it.
Vanschoyck Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 That came out really nice, I'm thinking Chet Atkins or maybe the Ventures.
Spectrum13 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Well done sir! Like the amber knobs too.
tulk1 Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 That's a lot of metal on the back end of that music stick. Wasn't sure how that down tension bar was supposed to work. But I see it now. And honestly, the whole thing looks great!
kidsmoke Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 looks like a serious machine. I'm always amazed at how a little binding goes a long way. What a beautiful axe.
