Besty Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Thinking about changing my H-150 tailpiece it currently has a stock Schaller. I was thinking a Tonepros standard zinc but then the Lightweight Alluminum caught my eye, does anyone have ideas. Thanks
Hfan Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I just went with a standard Gotoh tail piece which was like $20 and supposedly the same as the tone pros except for one feature that honestly I can't remember, it's been a while. Maybe the set screw locking. Some members have installed Faber tails with supposedly good results. The Schaller is a nice piece of hardware but the look always bugged me.
Einerbe Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Changed mine to one from "Faber" https://www.faberusa.com/product-category/faber-tailpieces/faber-stop-tailpieces/ Cheers!
kidsmoke Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 here's a thread that explores this issue a bit, there are other, more exhaustive threads also but search isn't giving them to me right now. happy hunting http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/32691-tonepros-and-faber/?tab=comments#comment-451804
Kuz Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Faber, period. The Faber aluminium TP is lighter than any other one I have tried.... and they lock with no goofy set screws.

greatmutah2112 Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 My 157 has the tone pros locking bridge and tailpiece. Works perfectly. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I especially love (and I'm sure the faber does this) how the locks prevent the tailpiece and bridge from falling off during string changes.

Sometimes the Bear has to ignore the little fly buzzing around him.... The thing that I think is amazing (and ignorant) is how some people will recommend, emphatically, one product when they never tried the others. I have used Gotoh, Schaller, Tonepro, Gibson Historic, Callaham, Resomax, Faber, and vintage bridges & stoptails. So my opinion is based on my experience trying all these products. It is ONLY my opinion, but at least I have experience with all these products. Faber is my first choice, with Callaham a very close second. Again, only my opinion.
