Guitardude Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Hello, I am new here and just got my first heritage a month ago. An H-140. I love it. Especially the thinner body and lighter weight. The only problem that I am having is with the strings between the schaller bridge and schaller tailpiece the wound part of the strings is sharp and scratches me up when I go for the controls. Anybody else have this problem and or a solution? Thanks, Alan.
bobmeyrick Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I've not had that problem, but how about putting a small piece of heat-shrink tubing around the string winding when you restring the guitar?
High Flying Bird Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Heat shrink sounds good to me too.
bolero Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 weird I have never run into that: could just be a funky string winding, at the end? is it just one string? got a pic?
davesultra Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 When you put a new set on, make sure to find the sharp part of the end wind and turn it so it’s facing the bottom of the saddle. That way the pointy part will be facing down towards the body. Kind of the same principle applies when using a wrapover tailpiece.
DetroitBlues Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I have used heat shrink tubing because of the tailpiece breaking my strings. You could also just replace it with a normal modern tailpiece.
Guitardude Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Yeah, making sure that they are facing down should work too. I will try that when I change the strings, thanks.
