TBurstStd Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 So I am going to Bigsby this. I am thinking tension bar models. Most go B7, I’m thinking B12 thoughts?
bolero Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 that is a beauty! congratulations! does the 530 have a center block south of the bridge? if not, I would stick with a floater B3/B6 etc tension bar definitely helps keep the strings down on the bridge though, if it's a shallow angle
TBurstStd Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 The 530 does not have a center block. As I understand: non tension bar Bigsbys are for high mount bridges (like the Tom on top of a bridge base. Like my White Falcon) tension bar Bigsbys are for low mount bridges, like a Tom on a 530, 535 or Gibson 330, 335 i looked at 330s and Casinos (both hollow bodies). From the factory they are coming with tension bar Bigsbys. Ala B7
FranzMohamitz Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 You might want to rethink going with the B7, I had one installed on my H530 for a few months and couldn't stop knocking the low E out of the saddle anytime that I really dug in. I thought about trying a B12 but wound up selling the guitar anyhow which I've frequently regretted doing since. The tone of these 530s is something special! Either way, congrats on a real looker!
TBurstStd Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Curious, do mean a B7 with the tension bar and you were still having the string come off the saddle?

After further review I've realized that I had a B-30 (no holes drilled, no tension bar) You should be good with the B7!
TBurstStd Posted March 22, 2019 Author Posted March 22, 2019 First rehearsal with it this evening. Most definitely delivered the goods. Bigsby B12 arrived today and will get installed Sat.
TBurstStd Posted April 10, 2019 Author Posted April 10, 2019 Just to circle back on this. This weekend will be it’s 4th gig. We are bonding quite quickly and well. The Bigsby B-12 install went without a hitch. This guitar is quickly becoming my go to. (Yes I know the spring isn’t set correctly. Was rectified immediately afterI took the pic which was before I had played it with the B-12)
