cod65 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 http://tinyurl.com/2wrgyn huh. looks like the the name Ed Roman is the 'kiss of death' on this model. too bad. i like the concept of a mini-335
GuitArtMan Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 It's just a Prospect model with a solid sustain block. You could custom order one from Jay Wolfe. Nice idea, but I personally don't think they got the perportions right on the body. The horns look too much like Mickey Mouse ears.
cod65 Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 yeah, that's why I went for the custom h158 instead(from jay). Also, I spoke too soon. Looks like somebody did indeed buy the BDlux. i never really figured out waht the deal was with all that ed roman/heritage bad blood. lots of fingerpointing- and this model-thru ed got a lot of mediocre reviews- mostly on setup/quality issues.
Kazwell Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Who is this Ed Roman guy anyway and what is his association w Heritage?
rooster Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 The big question is, "who isn't this Ed Roman guy?" rooster.
Thundersteel Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Who is this Ed Roman guy anyway and what is his association w Heritage? Google him--you'll find out!
golferwave Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 You'll find out that you don't want to be anywhere near him.
Kazwell Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I just checked out his. uh, webpage...... .................if Hell had a guitar shop..... Or does it already?
golferwave Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Read all of his "Rants" and you'll have a picture of the worm. He was fired as a Heritage dealer and now claims he quit as a dealer because everyone of his guitar techs threatened to resign if he kept Heritage due to the horrible quality issues with the guitars. He also claims on his site that Heritage bought the plek machine and "Doesn't even bother to use it"
Kazwell Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I saw a picture of the worm o his site. Looks like a demon. And that website homepage-that alone paints the picture -the the rave about the "world's coolest guitar shop?!!!" I checked out the reviews of his guitars on Harmony-Central, I swear I have never seen so many 1 and 2 ratings. Unbelievable. Dude looks like a hard druggie if you ask me.
yoslate Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Let's take the high road here, guys. I appreciate people like Ed for their undistorted transparency! Nothing we say will trump Ed himself. All we need do is listen...once. Beautiful!
toddinjax Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I have been to his store in Vegas in Jan 07 and for all his BS talk about how great the gits he builds, I swear with no exaggeration that every single fret end on both sides of every neck I touched would cut you if you hit it right. The guitars with his name on them costing thousands felt to me very similar to what my first guitar teacher pointed out to me in 1976 as "Asian import junk". I don't think that store is there any more, no great loss. Do not under any circumstances buy a guitar over the net from Ed Roman!
Sparky Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Can you feel the love in this thread? I bought into Ed Romans BS... I thought his website was fun to surf, and back then he was really pushing the Heritage brand hiring hot looking models to pose with the guitars. I bought my Heritage through them, a custom made H170. Fortunately I didn't deal with Ed. It was supposed to take about 4-6 months... it took 360 days. I got what I wanted, with all the mods I requested, but that was only because I started dealing directly with the factory. If I hadn't gone direct, I would have ended up with the wrong color and wrong pick-ups. However, instead of a Heritage case, Ed Romans sent an ill-fitting TKL case that the guitar flops back and forth in. Compared to the nighmarish stories on Harmony Central about dealing with Ed Roman, I feel like I escaped mostly unscathed. Ed Roman is still in Las Vegas, but he moved to a smaller facility. His website used to say "Worlds Largest Guitar Store" but that has now changed to the "coolest". I'd be surprised if he's still around in ten years time. Do yourself a favor and read some of the Harmony Central reviews... you'll learn why to buy elsewhere.
Kazwell Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 A picture is worth a thousand words. I uh, "found" this pic of the man the myth the legend , thought I would share it with all his "fans".... enjoy Ed_Roman.jpg Ed_Roman.jpg_thumb
