butch Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Happy owner of first Heritage. 1995 575 has binding pulling away on the front and back binding of the cut away in the area nearnest the pick guard(bottom of the "U" if you will, as well as the back binding at the waist in one spot. Summer humidity in NewYork State may may have swelled the wood too much? Always careful of winter low humidity but this took me by surprise. Maybe not related... Question is do I have a local shop tech, long time Martin dealer, do the fix or is that asking for trouble and the factory should do the repair? My layman guess on the repair is that the binding gets heated glued and clamped, simple fix but I'm not sure of this and this guitar is a keeper. Any suggestions? Thanks
skydog52 Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Factory won't do it. I would trust your guy first.
butch Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 Thank you, any thoughts why the pieces released?
Steiner Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Variation in vapor pressure over a long period of time.
DetroitBlues Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 While others are saying the factory won't fix it, if you are the original owner, I think its worth a try to ask. Otherwise, finding someone local you trust, like an authorized Martin repair person would be perfect.
Genericmusic Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 If not warrantied try using anaerobic glue and painters tape. Be careful not to get any glue on the finish because it will ruin it.
