brentrocks Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 So I was walking in to the Kalamazoo GC last week. My first stop is always the high end used wall. I looked up and I couldn't believe my eyes!!! It was a silver hologram sparkle Heritage Mark Slaughter "ROCK" model!!!! My first thought was..."it has to be a refin!" I had them pull it down and I looked inside the control cavity...nope....not a refin!!! The Heritage label simply said....MARK SLAUGHTER, and the serial # I put it back on the wall and went home. I got on my laptop and started searching for pics of Mark and his guitars and found these..... (unfortunately its on police hold until December 14th) I reached out to Mark recently, asking him if in fact this was his guitar. He replied back to me yesterday. He said it was his personal guitar. We haven't gotten into and details yet on the whole history of the guitar....he is currently on tour, so he is probably busy. I have ordered some new parts for it to bring it back to factory original....black tuners, black bridge/tailpiece. The pickups and electronics appear to be original. I even ordered a custom replica of the original Mark Slaughter truss rod cover that came on it from the factory . big bob Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Cool beans, it would be sweet if you still had the catalog red one to compare.
davesultra Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I’ll bet that guitar brings the “RAWK”!!!! Do you know how many of those they made? Couldn’t have been many.
DetroitBlues Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 You have quite the nose for sniffing out the rarest of rare Heritages Brent!
Gitfiddler Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Ah, the benefits of living in Kalamazoo! Cool find, Brent. Can't wait to see your forthcoming restoration thread.
DavesNotHere Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Sweet score Brent! You beat me to another one! Call me.
Genericmusic Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I can't make out the serial numbers well enough to date it.What year is it? Who was the designer of the model? Ken Rambo by any chance?

Hfan Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I should know who Mark Slaughter is but... Guessing a hair band..dude had nice hair for sure.

zguitar71 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Crazy! I’ve never even seen one of those. Talk about obscure, and cool.
ElNumero Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I have no idea who Mark Slaughter is, but judging by his name, he must be one of these "new" Nashville country artists! Anyhow, you always have the golden touch when finding these obscure guitars!
pro-fusion Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Interesting that it ended up back in Kalamazoo. I wonder if someone connected with the company got it from Mark's ex. The design reminds me a little of the Dean Cadillac. I wonder if Mark played one of those previously.
brentrocks Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 Yeah. He plays/played Cadillac style guitars.
brentrocks Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 Mark invited me to come backstage at an upcoming show to meet him and check out the guitar!!! Should be a good time!

FredZepp Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Cool Stuff. He has had several customized Heritage guitars.

LK155 Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Interesting string tree. Not needed, I presume. Cool guitar. Little pointy, though.
