paul144 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 hey guys, just got a set of these for my Goldtop, they drop right in place of the heavy nickel Grovers that were on there. Got rid of the top heavy feeling of the neck. Just needed to drill 6 more tiny holes for the 2 screw per tuner holes. Now its down to 9lbs 1 oz! I like the way they look much better than the kidney shaped large metal knobs. http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2142/2292445/19281588/351792184.jpg[/img] http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2142/2292445/19281588/351792187.jpg[/img]
wingnut1 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 They look great from the front, do you have a picture of the back? Where did you buy them? What is the model? How much were they? Thanks, Steve.
paul144 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 stew mac has em... http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,..._Keystones.html
paul144 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 I used the existing bottom hole from the original Grovers. Tried to line up the new ones best I could, one or two are a tiny bit off, but not worth filling old holes & re drilling for that. Plus the angle of the headstock makes it look off a little too. Optical illusion, angled sides vs straight sided tuners. The old Grovers were probably off a little but were not as noticeable.
wingnut1 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks Paul, they look great, the only problem is I need two sets of nickel and two sets of gold. I guess I'll have to get another heritage with nickle hardware and another one with gold to take advantage of the bulk pricing. I'll have to see what Brent has in stock.
paul144 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 wingnut, duh, please disregard my post, now I realize what you're trying to do with the bulk pricing, lol I actually got mine off ebay. The seller Music4less has them, but make sure they really have them in stock. They will show like 10 avail, but they didn't get them from their supplier, so they ran out. So I got mine from http://stores.ebay.com/Guitar-Merch they matched the free shipping.
Kuz Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Here are my favorites- ivoroid sperzel tuners. They actually show the grain in the tuners. No problem is they have to be pre-ordered with sperzels, since the holes for the spezels are smaller than grovers.
GuitArtMan Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 My current faves are the TonePros Klusons. After I got my Don Grosh Set neck I loved them so much I bought a set for my Les Paul and my CS-336. Smooth, firm and accurate are how I would describe them with a very positive feel.
Thundersteel Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Here are my favorites- ivoroid sperzel tuners. They actually show the grain in the tuners. I've got Sperzels in my H150 as well. Love 'em!
Spectrum13 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Sperzels on my 150 too... but they are now a $150 option! :'( For about $30 Allparts has Ebony & Ivory [/img] like on my 137. Muck lighter than the kidney beans. Ebony.jpg Ebony.jpg_thumb
