jamison162 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 If so, how/why do you like it over the stock heavy one. Or vice-versa? Also, what are you guys thoughts on the TonePros Locking Stop Tailpiece as a whole vs. just using the locking studs?
GuitArtMan Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Don't have one on my 150 as I don't have a 150 but I do have one on my G word Les Paul. To me it mad the tone a little more dynamic, alive, touch sensitive at the expense of maybe a tad of sustain. It seems to allow the attack of the notes to come through more clearly, where as the heavier stock taile piece seems to smooth the attack out and sound almost compressed. The changes are subtle, but noticeable.
les paulverizer Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I've installed a Tone Pro bridge on my G Classic Premium Plus and, apart from the fact that it does make. changin' strings a lot (!) easier, the improvement on the overall sound, albeit noticeble, has been minimal. The biggest improvement tough has been fittin' Sperzel lockin' tuners; wow (!).....as soon as I fitted them, restrung the guitar, tuned it, and started playin' it I noticed a HUGE overall improvement, in terms of sustain, attack, resonance, it made the guitar way more alive! I personally do 99% of the work on my guitars, hence I'm in the position of comparin' things straight away. It probably has to do with the fact that Sperzel's are a lot heavier than standard tuners and addin' mass to the headstock makes things better. I know that in the late 70's/early 80's a company, whose name I forgot, came up with a device called Fathead which you could stick to the back of the headstock and thus improve the sound; Joe Satriani (the only Ibanez player with a TONE, not a generic sound....) has one fitted to each of his guitars, and there must be a reason for that....... Since I've bought my H150 it has become my main guitar, and deservedly so, and I think I will be fittin' a set of Sperzel's to it in the next coupla weeks; after all what's the point in ownin' a Picasso and ruinin' it by puttin' just ANY frame, or drive a great BMW and not fit Yokohama tyres or the likes? That's how I rate my H150. Don't think I'll ever own a Picasso though.........!
