MartyGrass Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 This seems to have a fair amount of red in it, like a chestnut burst. It is touted to be an antique burst.
MartyGrass Posted October 29, 2021 Author Posted October 29, 2021 I'm looking at the MOP inlays, the gold and white binding for color balance. The lighting seems fairly good.
skydog52 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I think you nailed it with Chestnut Burst. Definitely a Custom shoot from the old school spray booth. What year is that beauty?
Gitfiddler Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Some photos add a bit of red, depending on the light. I agree that it looks like Chestnut Burst more so than Antique Burst. Have you seen this beautiful H575 in person or only photos?
hinesarchtop Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I think it's chestnut too. Here is an example of vintage wine burst.. similar on the outer part, but not as red in the center.

SouthernCanuck Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I would have guessed Vintage Wine Burst, mainly because the Chestnut ones I've seen trend more brown... S_C

MartyGrass Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 Here are a few more pics along with an Eagle Classic that's definitely a chestnut burst to compare.
skydog52 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 I have seen some Dark Almond Sunbursts close to these also.
High Flying Bird Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 It looks like the Chestnut burst on my 535.
skydog52 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Old catalogue Roy Clark with Chestnut Burst.

MartyGrass Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 Here are a couple of chestnut bursts I had years ago. This shows how different the outcomes can be, both stunning though. They are officially labeled as having that finish. I particularly regret selling the Millie Eagle.
TalismanRich Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 To me, it looks more chestnut burst. My 157 is Almond Burst and it was more yellow/brown when I got it originally. When I had the finish redone after the water damage, it came back darker, but still mostly yellow and brown. The Millennium is Chestnut, and has the red.
skydog52 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Internet search for Chestnut color gave me this. Asked and Answered.
MartyGrass Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 This looks like another version of chestnut burst. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Teb3DQMbVZ8
Gitfiddler Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Chestnut Burst can also have a hint of 'cranberry' color, like my H157 Custom that ya'll have seen before
