These guitars were made in Kalamazoo 60 years apart!  My 1959 Gibson ES-225TD and 2019 Heritage H-535!

Sometimes, I consider selling the ES-225TD to buy an H-530 for better playability, but I'm afraid to become that guy who "used to own" an awesome guitar like that (it still plays great)!

Beautiful pair!

Is the Gibson 225 the same body thickness as a Heritage 525? Or thinner?

The ES-225 is almost 1/8" thicker than the H-535.  If I recall, my ES-335 was the same thickness as the ES-225.

The ES-225 was Gibson's first thinline guitar and it is fully hollow, not semi-hollow like the ES-335 and H-535.

The only real reason I’m bummed is due to the fact that I could have sold it for twice the price today. As far as playing it goes, I was just as lousy on that one as I am on any other guitar!

I wonder if Gibson named it a 225 after the building address?

A Heritage 525 is thicker than a 535, different instrument.

My buddy Joe has one just like this.  I think it is a '58 but I am not sure.

Oops! I didn't see the "2" in 525 and read it as 535!  Sorry!

There's nothing like a good Jr!  There was something about the mahogany they used back then!  I had a '64 Epiphone Olympic that weighed 5-1/2 pounds and was really loud unplugged.  It had already been routed, so I put a P90 in it and turned it into a poor man's Coronet (or SG/LP Jr).

No worries!!

I suspect the 225 + 525 are similar, just like 335 + 535 are.

That is a beauty Coronet!! Reminds me of Humble Pie ;)
